New Petrol Discount Card

These people will not get away with this cavaliar attitude.
Martin, I'm very unhappy that they even had a recommendation, and expect your intervention to get us the deal we were offered, and have paid for, not some watered down "business only" offering.
I spoke to someone who admitted he knew nothing about the new scheme but promised I would get a phone call back that day and guess what, no phone call back to me. I emailed them demanding my money back, and if they ignored me again I would take further action and add recovery costs to my bill. I also asked why they never returned my phone calls.
They did reply and as good as called me a liar saying they had tried to conatce me several times and left a message, pretty good since I don't have messaging facilities. They also say they have refunded me but it hasn't appeared on my credit card account yet.
Martyn you have got it wrong this time, you should be advising people to steer clear of this scam, sorry I mean scheme.0 -

Reading all this info, i have to say it's a difficult situation.
Will we ever really be able to get a fuel discount.
I doubt it !!
I've also just been forwarded an email from a friend telling me of another site offering a fuel card.
Not sure if it's running, there's no contact details except for an email address.
I've written to them asking for more info about the scheme, but so far no joy. All I can say is that they say they will offer the card for free, and they don't take any personal details from you apart from an email address.
Look forward to sharing more moneysaving tips in the future.
May the force be with us (and Martin of course)
I've had an email back from https://www.peoplespetrol.com and they said
"our service is not currently up and running, but we do hope to release information on some major developments in July"
I've asked them about petrol stations in my area, but they did not give me any answers, and said they won't be able to until later this year.
Watch this space i guess...but at least i got a reply !!:rolleyes:0 -
Statement from Marmalade: -
Our fuel card providers are nearing the end of the task to contact those people that applied for a fuel card and paid the membership fees for Marmalade. Where we have been unable to establish contact for whatever reason, we are refunding the fees that were charged.
The new scheme is now available and a high percentage of the original applicants have either taken up the new arrangements or simply retained membership of Marmalade for the other benefits. Where neither is required, charges to credit and debit cards either have been or are being refunded.
This was an extremely frustrating situation for us in that we were prevented from providing fuel savings for all members. We are pleased, however, that we have been able to provide an alternative service to high mileage users and a scheme for drivers to fix their fuel costs for up to a month in advance.
We would like to thank you for your patience and the valuable comments that have been posted on this site0 -
i had hassle trying to get my fee refunded. they said they couldnt find the card payment despite me faxing across a copy of my credit card statement - eventually i had to give my card details again and they refunded my card. dealt with a Nick Moger and a Crispin Moger - apparently both are directors. they promised plenty but couldnt deliver.........as for pipeline card more and more like pipe dream, interesting if pipeline issue yearly accounts to see how much they are making from referrals mmmmm.... oh well there is always cheap supermarkets to fill your tank up with.0

Given the expertise of many people on this board, I'd suggest that they need to be considering their position, especially when "Roberts" is considered - £300from the spammers coffers...0 -
I'm a little confused (not uncommon).
Having signed up for the Marmalade card a while ago I was contacted out of the blue by a company called Cambrian who said that the Marmalade scheme had fallen through. The impression I was given was that Cambrian had 'taken over' the list of applicants and was offering us a different (and unconnected) deal. I agreed to the new offer over the phone and have applied by post, having been e-mailed an application form. I haven't received a card yet, but this was only a week ago.
Can anyone shed any light on the connection between Cambrian and Marmalade?0 -
I can't understand why this all seems such a mess.
Are these really genuine companies or what? 'cos it all seems very dodgy !!
How is it that these companies are signing people up and then create all these problems.
I work in IT and would have thought that if companies are offering a service like this that they would have strong systems running the thing.
Credit card processing....lost customer information....applications gone astray....and now company take overs.
What on earth ... ! :mad:0 -
Eventually got my card yesterday and registered on the website. Couldn't understand where the weekly petrol prices had gone so I came here - sadly, the new 'deal' is no good to me so I'll have to try and get a refund.
Hopefully Pipeline will get something sorted, but I can't help thinking that the major fuel companies will stick together rather than risk starting a price war.
As for the 'spam', I can't see what the fuss was about. 1 motoring connected offer that has cost me nothing. It was of no use to me so I went no further with it - it wasn't difficult.0 -

If the major oil companies won't play ball on a discount I am sure one of the major supermarkets would be interested. Although the supermarkets tend to sell cheaper fuel already, nevertheless, they still make a profit and may be prepared to give a bit of this away for a captive audience.
Not only would the supermarkets sell more fuel but would also sell more groceries etc if customers are on their premises.

Which card is this, and what is the website address? Which company is running the scheme? I'm still confused about who is doing what following the demise of the original Marmalade card.
