Debt free and buy a house by 35

I've been taking packed lunches to work every day for the last two weeks now. I think I've just felt too lazy to do it before, but now I'm on the home stretch with my debts, I feel more motivated than ever to save every penny. I'm having loads of no spend days because of this too which feels great! I think even after being debt free, I'm still going to push to have a MSE attitude to spending. Maybe actually being able to keep the money I save will motivate me even more?Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0

I think I read somewhere also that having too much available credit works against you as well. I'd def take away the temptation and close accounts and leave yourself with one for emergency reasons - at the rate you're going you may well never need credit again!!!!
Well done on the lunches - I work from home so don't have that problem thankfully....although it has it's downsides in that I have to try and stay away from the temptations or i'd end up the size of a house!!
Can't wait for you post saying you are debt free, I have a feeling it's going to be soon :j:D:j0 -
Thanks Choc. I figure that having packed lunches saves me nearly a hundred pounds a month. Cause I also save on the cost of petrol driving to Tesco at lunch time.
Pay day today, will make overpayments this evening. Just enjoying the feeling that for this one day, my net worth is more than nothing. Obviously I have to pay bills soon, but for now I'm not in debt! Hopefully next month onwards I'll be not in debt forever.Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0

I've made another over-payment, total debt now sits at £1456, I'll make more over-payment in the next few weeks as I feel happy about how much cash I need for the month. You never want to get stuck in the trap of making too big an over-payment then running out of cash during the month.
I'm feeling all confident and inspired now for some of hobby projects. I upload the odd Youtube video on how to write your own PC games (http://www.youtube.com/amcadam26) and I'm thinking of taking it further and actually writing some games to sell, for mobile phones. Some of these games make a lot of money, and if I get really lucky then I could make enough to get some serious savings together. Just have a lot of work to do yet. Anyway, what inspired me recently??? In my Taekwondo class, one of the women who I train with has just released two ebooks on Kindle, I've bought them both (only 89p each), and they're really good. She said she just decided to do it and is starting to do quite well and getting good reviews. I get a lot of good comments on my YouTube channel, and have had loads of emails asking me to release a book on the subject, maybe I will. But I also want to release some games. I'm making a good living from my day job, but everyone needs to try to reach higher don't they?Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0

Have had a couple of no-spend days lately. Partly from taking packed lunched to work every day and also not getting out much. Haven't seen my GF in over a week now, our schedules are clashing too much, will see her this Saturday but probably won't be too an expensive a day. So.... I made another overpayment! Total debt is now just under a grand! Meaning that next payday will be my DFD!Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0

Wow, can't wait for your DF post, it's going to be sooooo soon!
And I think the idea to write games to sell is great, it's always good to stretch yourself with something you enjoy and if that brings in extra cash then so much the better.Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -

IT'S DONE!!!
I just made my final overpayment to my final loan. :j:j:j
Two years and six months after my LBM, I am now officially debt free!!!!!!
Feeling a bit weird about the whole thing, I've not been out of debt for over ten years. Not really sure what to do with myself right now. Think I need a cup of tea and a big think.
Just had a really nice weekend with the girlfriend, we went to Wimpole Hall on Saturday, had a lovely walk, saw lots of piglets on the farm, ate sausages (felt guilty after seeing the pigs though!).
then we looked around at some houses on Sunday, feels like we've got a proper future ahead of us now. Just need a few months to get used to having money and build some savings.
Thanks for all the support guys, I'll still be following your diary's, and I'll still be updating this diary. It's not just a debt free diary, I've got the "buying a house" bit to do now!!!:):)
