e there houses like a furnace at + 10 , we are both disabled so we have to keep the heating on at a reasonable temp of 20 degrees during the day. Even if I wasnt disabled I wouldnt fancy being in doors at - 8 !! to me thats not a comfortable temperature:eek:

I can't believe the number of people who choose to have their houses cold just to keep the costs down! I would much rather sacrifice other things!

I have an illness which is exacerbated by cold and am at home all day so the heating has been on since September and I have to confess I like it be about 23 degrees as that is a comfortable heat to me.

I'm fine with it being as low as 10-12 in the house provided I have a source of heat ie a hot-water-bottle or electric blanket.

Our winters are mild, however, it rarely gets that low.

  • ON. Been on occasionally for the last month. We have a 10month old baby who we need to keep the house warm for. Twice a day for 30mins - hour is enough for now.

If it wasn't for the baby I would just wrap up more. It is nice being in the warmth though.

Me and OH sure as hell dont work full time to be cold in our own home, or have to sit huddled under duvets on the couch!

  • Our heating has been on for the last week now but we are in a new build and the radiators are TINY! So they are all on 5 and because I cant be bothered to work out the different programe things on the timer I just leave it on 'Continuous' and turn it off after a couple of hours in the evening. The thermostat is set to 22 in the hallway I think, I find the burner comes on for 5 minutes then goes off for about 10 while it pumps the house :)

It depends on your values and priorities: I dislike spending money when I don't feel I have got anything in return and I'd rather spend the money I save on something fun! It's just as much my choice not to bother with heating as it is yours to leave it running 24/7. Despite the morning frost I am not cold, I like having the duvet on the sofa and I adore my electric blanket! :p

I've still not got the heating on but do sit in bed with the electric blanket on. It's so cosy and saves having to put the heating on. Yay for the electric blanket!

Nothing in return? I can't stand being cold either. I don't work my nuts off all day, pay extortionate taxes and then want to come home and freeze my !!! off in my own home! I had a hot shower earlier and have now parked my butt in front of the gas fire wearing nothing but boxers. :j

It was -4 here last night but I didn't put the heating on..why waste money on that? I was perfectly warm with my electric blanket.

lol typical man! You do realise you wouldn't have to have the heat blasting out if you had some warm clothes on.

ETA: That was meant for Andy.

Dreamnine, what does your in door temperature read? Which part of the country are you in?
