On. Life is too short to be sitting around in the cold, wrapped in blankets to save an extra £1 a day.

£1 a day,,,,,, to some like myself equates to £90 extra that we have to find on our gas bill. in the winter quarter. so its blankets for me.

Using my heating for just a couple of hours a day would triple my energy bills (electric only flat) so I aim not to use the heating at all! My first two winters here were mild anyway; we did heat last winter tho not every day by any means. I wear a thin bodywarmer and thick socks to wander around the house, electric blanket on the bed and duvet on the sofa if required. If it snows or freezes properly the heating will go on.

Or equates to 2 less cups of coffee a day in the work's canteen or equivalent. Some things such as heating should have a higher priority than others.

Totally agree. My heating is on a thermostat year round, if the house gets cold, the heating comes on.

My Nan is one of those people that won't heat the house until she feels cold. She gets ill all the time and the house stinks of damp. What's the point in trying to save a few quid if you have to put up with that?
  • how much does it roughly cost per day to have the heating on approx 3-4 hours, 3 radiators on thermostat, combi boiler. no cavity wall insulation yet (3 weeks time) double glazing.
FTB just not long moved so dont get a bill until 10th december.

Not only is it still off, but I have all of the windows open during the day, and we even left the conservatory door open the other night when we were watching a movie.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
