Abbey ISA at 4.6%

Hi enigma,
With interest rates rising and likely to be 4.5% shortly, surely the Abbey account which is guaranteed to pay .5 % above Base Rate until April 2005 is the better option!!!!
I guess it depends where you think interest rates are heading.0 -
Just updating the info. Abbey confirm that there are no transfer out fees.
I agree that Abbey looks better longer term value than B&B but then with interest rates going the way they are, next year there'll be a new offer so just transfer into that.
Enigma - I'd make sure that you are not going to be hammered by a transfer out fee.

I’m with (or was) with the Halifax, just had my ISA interest at 3.6%
I cried all the way home
I’m going into town tomorrow to set up an account with Abbey at 4.6% ;D
There are no fees from either side for transferring the money.

I've moved an ISA before and it was a nightmare (Smile to Nationwide - both blamed each other and took weeks). I now fancy moving to Abbey 4.6% but am cautious.
Anyone know if you lose interest whilst you are 'in between' accounts. If you do and it takes weeks this will obivously eat into your gains.

I called up M&S about thier ISA to answer my question. They said the day the money leaves you current ISA account, they will start paying interest whether they have the funds or not into your new ISA account.0

Has anyone else suffered long delays at the hands of Abbey?
I sent my cheque and Postal ISA application off at the beginning of April (7th I think). To date, the cheque hasn't been cashed. I know there are delays but they've been useless in terms of service (3 calls not returned) so have decided to move my custom to either IF or M&S, even if it means I lose out on a month's interest.
Am curious as to whether this is just bad luck on my part or usual Abbey practice? :-/Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
Same here CB. I actually came to this thread to see if anyone else had heard anything. I sent my application off about mid April and heard nothing. Leaves me in a bit of a pickle. Surely going to have to wait for it to go through now before considering a transfer? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Well, I've decided to apply to IF and put a stop on the cheque I sent to Abbey. Will have to see whether IF prove any faster in responding...Mark Hughes' blue and white army0
