Avoiding M6 Roadworks
Hi,
Sorry if this is not totally relevant to this forum but I was wondering if anyone can advise me of an alternative route to Warrington from Suffolk? The M6 is a nightmare (as I found out yesterday) and I need to do the journey again next Sunday. Are there any decent A routes I could travel on?
Thanks

Whereabouts on the M6?
Can you do M1 and cut across at M62? Or M1 A50 M6 [depending on where the roadworks are].0 -
For some reason Sundays always seem worse than midweek. I do Luton to Manchester every week and it is usually the M6 that gives trouble, but all things considered it is the quickest route. (I use the toll because work pay - but it is worth £4.70 of your own money I think).
If you were to carry on the M1 past the M6 turn, they actually have more 50mph roadwork sections on the route up to Nottingham.0 -
Yep there's plenty of those on the M1. Google says you can use the A14 http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=warrington&daddr=52.76691,-0.890125+to:suffolk&hl=en&geocode=%3BFb4oJQMd82ry_ynXQTE3HtR5SDHQPC64qBwOEw%3B&gl=uk&mra=ls&sll=52.187247,0.97078&sspn=1.825373,1.702881&g=suffolk&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=7&via=10

The A14 stops at the bottom of the M6.0 -

Yep... M1 to J24 > A50 towards Stoke then follow M6 signs, completely cuts out the roadworks further south.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

come off M6 at M56 junction and hit warrington from the south, better than get caught in the 50 zome by j23.
M1, A50 through stoke. You can try and do back roads round cheshire, but marginal as to whether it is quicker.0 -
M50 runs right thru here (Warrington)0
