This is what sticks in my caw.

I dont particularly care that my dogs father is a crufts champion, nor that he comes from a whole line of champions on both sides. What I wanted was a dog who was well bred, one that was true to breed. One from a breeder who knew their stuff.

I wanted a pup who had had the best start in life

Yet for wanting that - Im mocked and scorned

Yet no where do I condone peoples choices of rescue

It seems that on here you are not allowed to support good breeding practices but you get kudos for "rescuing" dogs and pups that are the result of puppy farmers and therefore allowing the puppy farmers to carry on their foul trade.

Actually, I do want dogs that are representative o the breed standard. I want a dog that is bred by some one who puts in the ours of reseach into helth background of genertions before who goes to our club finncially supported lectures on research also donated to by the breed club, who breeds for type to be able to do a job as well as health and character.

Breeds evolved patly because we found different ways to employ dogs, I want a dog whose nature will be suited to the home I provide, not one whose breeding will lead him/her to be incompatible with my lifestyle, with the life I can give it.

I want all dogs to be born to be from dogs whose healh is checked, who are monitored, not necessarily shown or worked, but where records being kept become manditory.

I stand pretty m,uch alone that I'd like registry for crossbreeds so that this extended in time to all dogs. I'd like a licence fee levied at a higher rate for people who coose to keep dogs entire, so that breeding becomes a thought out action, not a random accident, whether pedigree or not.

That my dog is to my eyes (and from among the best winning stock not in the country but the world) is a bonus. Oh and snobbery? Money? The breeder GAVE her to me, because they wanted younger people, people with understanding of lines etc, to consider becoming a serious club member, for new blood and someone who came with no interest in politicking.

Oh! Right! I see you've edited it to correct the mis-spelling  - so what is a commodity dog? Please explain - perhaps its something the OP will be interested in - she did ask for dog breed advice, after all :D

As for the "perfect people who are higher than thou" who I "get my dogs from" - No, they are not perfect people - what they are is responsible, reputable breeders who...

research all the bloodlines they use,
health check all the stock they breed from,
breed only from the best possible examples of the breed,
travel worldwide to find the best match for their females,
only breed a litter when they have a waiting list of people wanting their stock,
lavishly rear their pups to give them the best possible start in life,
scrupulously screen any potential buyers to make sure they are the right people to have one of their puppies,
have a contract that states that if at any time, throughout the life of the dog, the purchasers are unable to keep the dog they will take it back,
keep in contact with the purchasers throughout the dogs entire life,
have a world wide reputation for excellence, etc, etc.

Oh! And, incidentally, they only breed one litter a year (if that) - is that OK with you, too?

I really can't see how anyone could have any problem with me buying from somebody like that (well, no sane person anyway ).

These are exactly the sort of breeders who can be found by actually getting off your backside and doing some research before purchasing a pedigree puppy. To sneer, snipe and say breeders like that are "higher than thou" says more about you and you own, personal issues mrcol1000 .

So, what is a commodity dog?

    QUOTE]

I gave examples of reputable breeders having to have rescues help them out. You said these weren't reputable breeders. I pointed out that they were what people deemed to be reputable breeders but had fallen on hard times and done something silly after going into panic. You seemed to be suggesting that would never happen to the breeders you get your dogs from. I suggested to think that someone wouldn't get into trouble and panic in a similar way would suggest they were some kind of perfect people.
If you still don't get it then your have to come round and I will draw you a diagram.
The commodity was crossed out. So there is no such thing as a commodity dog. It was commodity then it was dog.

I am glad I don't have to explain every post I make in great detial.

Is there really any need to be so rude? Pouting really doesn't help your cause ;).

I asked what a commodity dog was because I thought you were attempting to make a point by marking it through rather than just deleting it

Perhaps if your posts made more sense I wouldn't need to ask for clarification

My posts make perfect sense. Your the only person who has ever asked for explanation of them. I wasn't being rude at all. If my posts upset you that much maybe you should do as Suki1864 does and put your fingers in your ears.

I'm really sad for you that you seem to be so annoyed that I asked for clarification on a couple of points. I was under to impression that a forum was a place for open discussion and exchange of information - you know, questions and answers; opinions and counter-opinions .

The OP asked for advice about dog breeds - I have given information from my own particular field of expertise/experience. I have not made a personal attack against you in any way - but if you truly feel people on this (and other boards, from the use of the words "once again") are doing so - then I think the problem may lie with you .

Oh! And its OK - your posts really don't upset me at all - maybe, saluting you with my two fingers would be of better use than putting them in my ears

I am really not bothered if people sitting behind the safety of a computer screen want to post about me. I can somehow struggle on with my life. Its the person who is trying to get infomation that I feel sorry for. However I congratulate you for standing your ground (although I don't think you read my posts properly) rather than running off and saying your not playing any more like a certain poster does. I respect you for that but not your views.
