Dog breeder dumped the dogs in suitcases then refused to allow RSPCA to rehome them when they saved them costing RSPCA even more money.

Sorry I don't have time to post links to the loads of other cases of other licensed breeders. As for unlicensed breeders there are literally 100's of just recent ones. Inculding the lovely lady who who bred them for fighting and even cut their tails and ears off the dogs before selling them to make them look harder.0 -
I think the point was that even "reuptable" breeders can fall on hard times and struggle to pay all the costs associated with breeding dogs. As the endless stories of reputable breeders dumping pups and rescues having to bail breeders out shows.
Again, who are these people? Names please - and do you have links to these stories? It's easy to keep spouting this - lets have some proof ?Personally I would rather have a nice loyal dog that will lick my face when I get home and cuddle up and snooze on my lap in cold winter evenings that a dog that is of the right "stock" and great grandad won a prize in Crufts.
And that is great if that is all you want - but that doesn't give you the right to pour scorn on others who have higher standards and requirements does it?
By the way, all my dogs do all the above - lick my face, cuddle and snooze on my lap, etc, - and all of them are from "bred in the purple", health tested for generations stock
- and most of them have won their own 1st prizes at Crufts without having to rely on their great-grandad, thank you :T:T:T. That is the choice I made (along with millions of other pedigree dog owners) - just as you are free to make your own choice. I have yet to see any pedigree supporters on these boards telling you that you are wrong to have a rescue/mongrel. What is it with this inverted snobbery ? Oops! It appears we cross-posted. Thank you for those links but it appears you are getting a little muddled. In the above posts you stated "reputable" breeders - which these people are obviously not . Thank you for your efforts anyway

Actually these were "reputable" breeders. They had however fallen on hard times. Just like the St Bernad lady. There are also lots of other licensed reputable breeders who have struggled and ending up needing help.0 -

I never said there wasn't. I just said that I personally cared more about what the dog was like. I also personally feel its a little bit snobbery to only get a dog because it comes from the right stock and its dad was a prize stud. But then thats my opinion.
It seems that anyone who dares to suggest that maybe its better to give a home to one of the loads and loads of dogs looking for homes rather than encouraging more dogs to be bred when there is so many is beaten to the ground and stamped on by people claiming that its snobbery and forcing views on people.
I have never seen anyone say its wrong to get a dog from a licensed breeder only to suggest to them they consider a rescue one first.
If people want to get a dog from a breeder its up to them but while people know you can get a predigee dog or certain breed from a breeder not everyone knows you can get same pure dogs from rescues. It says a lot that pointing this out makes people in favour of breeding very very defensive.0 -
Actually these were "reputable" breeders.
Aah! Well that could be where your problem lies if you genuinely believe those people were reputable, responsible breeders .
If you do ever decide to purchase a well-bred pedigree maybe a great deal more research would be in order. I would be more than willing to help you with that, should that situation ever arise

This is what sticks in my caw.
I dont particularly care that my dogs father is a crufts champion, nor that he comes from a whole line of champions on both sides. What I wanted was a dog who was well bred, one that was true to breed. One from a breeder who knew their stuff.
I wanted a pup who had had the best start in life
Yet for wanting that - Im mocked and scorned
Yet no where do I condone peoples choices of rescue
It seems that on here you are not allowed to support good breeding practices but you get kudos for "rescuing" dogs and pups that are the result of puppy farmers and therefore allowing the puppy farmers to carry on their foul trade.0 -

Actually I was making the point that even the most reputable responsible people can fall on to hard times and panic and do stupid things. But obviously the people you buy your [STRIKE]commodity[/STRIKE] dog from are perfect people who are higher than thoult.0 -
