Her life is so alien to anything I've experienced, I'd probably end up just wanting to track her down and daub poo on her front door. So no thanks.

    She'd irritate me.

I put it up anyways......one page back at the bottom.:D It's about schooldays.

I think you'll probably find that there's already a rather long queue so don't forget to take warm clothes and a flask of tea with you

Thanks fc, that's actually really sad. Sounds like she's a woman on the verge of a breakdown or worse. If she does ever release that book, I'm guessing the title would be "Fear and Self-Loathing in Brentwood". Let's hope she doesn't do a Hunter S Thompson.

GCSE history for me was european history, french revolution, napoleonic wars, waterloo and so on. Great stuff, & really really interesting.

Because I liked it so much, I did A level history. I specifically asked if we were doing european history as I wanted more detail & the years around what I'd done. I was told yes. I was very disappointed to then find us doing the industrial revolution.

Being from the midlands, there is a lot of industrial revolution taught when you're younger, & I really wasn't motivated, & it meant I no longer trusted the teacher. He was a boring so&so too!

On the reading, I love reading. When I had a job gap late last year, I realised I needed to find something mse to do, as I had no income for 6-8 weeks. I started to plough through all the books I have accumulated over the years, & have absolutely loved it. After starting the new job, I made sure I made time to read.

Last night, I read a quidditch through the ages http://www.amazon.co.uk/Quidditch-Through-Ages-Comic-Relief/dp/140880302X/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260647061&sr=8-3. tonight I will read magical beasts & where to find them http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fantastic-Beasts-Where-Find-Them/dp/1408803011/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260647061&sr=8-2 followed by this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Victims-Jack-Ripper-Neal-Shelden/dp/0978911296/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260647129&sr=1-1
One thing I am surprised by, is the amount of books I should've been reading at university that I really want to read now.

My hobby is reading and boy am I indulging myself in that hobby whilst I am between courses for my degree.

I usually go for medical/legal/physcology thrillers or True Crime magazines (I have subscriptions for True Crime, True Detective, Master Detective as birthday and christmas pressies).

I can't get into the fantasy or romantic books...things have to be based in fact to keep my mind active.

I used to have a huge collection of first edition signed books, some extremely rare but since the split, it has been sold off bit by bit to get the little essentials which broke my heart.

Despite doing so well in my 3rd year in History, I kept to the rather immature promise I made in 1st year High school to kick out History at the first opportunity and kicked it out.....I've been trying to do 20th century history ever since at exam level.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Sorry Sue, I know its none of my business, but when I read things like that, and think about how much you have to do because of the lack of support of your husband, I want to go give him a kick up the !!!!:mad::mad:.

My thoughts as the books were being carted off in plain and pretty crappy boxes were rather similar (possibly a little more evil)...especially as on one occasion it was to buy school uniform which he had said he couldn't afford to put towards but then he went out and bought himself the Xbox 360.

I had spent since my early teens collecting them (ever since I got my first part time job at 12), spent thousands on them but they are all gone now.

Think that was one of the hardest things I have had to do since the divorce, I was in floods of tears for days over it but then told myself it's only books, they can be replaced as and when things improve and right now we needed the money more.

Please let me knock on his door, and remind him that while it is possible to be an ex-husband, you can never be an ex-father.

I feel for you, in that I know how attached I can get to such items. Whilst to many they can be relatively worthless, personally they can be priceless. To have a signed item can really mean something, can make the item more tactile.

I've had to detach myself from years of stuff. I had to because the alternative was to pay for pricey storage, so I said goodbye to stuff I'd been carting about for 30 years. Walked with nothing. And about to do it again. One small car full and that's it.
