She was only living on jobseekers allowance for a week for a newspaper article. If the pearls were given to her by her father and they had such sentimental value then she shouldn't have been trying to sell/pawn them.

I have always enjoyed reading her columns in the MOS but I am beginning to think that she is no different to Katie Price, Kerry Katona et al, selling every detail of their lives to make a quick buck.

Spot on...but I can't help feeling a bit jealous that they earn so much from it.....but then....could I cope with the utter humiliation....not that I am a journo or anything...

Liz J got about 680 odd comments on mail online which beats other articles..so she has hit on a recipe that works for now but how much of your soul do you sell for the evil lucre??

As for Kate...she is so taking the mick right now.
It's the second time I wish we had telly reception (1st time was for Apprentice until I discovered IPlayer) as itv.com doesn't put the whole prog out for 24 hours...just annoying clips..I wanna see the whole show in one go....

She doesn't 'need' the money, she knew she would miss the kids..so stop bleating !!!!!!...she didn't have to miss them by going in.
There comes a point where the ego is so distorted by all the adulation (and, then 'hate') that the pursuit of approval becomes a problem.
As for Kates facial work.....silly lady...OH can't believe what she has done to her face and teeth.
I can't believe that the old personality has vanished...must be still inside? Maybe not after chatting to someone this week....her ego is destroying her from the inside out...apparently.;)

A girl in my office buys all the one quid mags, she is Jordans audience.

I have watched her go from being a dedicated Katie fan (she felt they were very alike) to coming in and ranting about her BF and saying if he doesn't shape up she will do a Peter Andre on him.

I think Jordan is pretty much fu cked.

Even if it was an 18 year old birthday gift, unless their circumstances changed drastically I can't see the father having bought fancy pearls for her, when the imitation ones seemed to be passable as real.

At least he bought her something, which as you point out, she didn't seem to value for the memory and was happy to try and pawn.

Primark.. the poverty.. the shame.. the guilt.

I suspect they may have been Lotus pearls, they were very good quality imitation pearls which would have been quite expensive at the time, although nowhere near as much as real pearls. Very sad that she thought so little of them, probably because there was no designer label attached.

As for Primark, she misses the point, people are happy to shop there, no guilt involved as far I can see.

Don't worry PN you won't 'need' to spend more than you do now....I will research the hair costs so you can decide whether to or not. ....but it's the time factor with the supervised trainee cuts.

    Yes..this is someones life...funny world isn't it?

I regularly do the roots for my sister every few months and a few of her girly friends occasionally. They say it's £30-£40 at the hairdressers... or a lot more in town... although in town they've probably got more advanced techniques.

£5/£6 pack they get and mix it up, then it's on with my gloves, and applier brush in hand as they hold the tub of mixture. That said I did work in a hairdressers part-time as a 13-14 yo on Saturdays, and again on pensioner evening... setting rollers and blow-drying on pensioner evenings, and so still have the touch. ;) 50p tips were great back then. It is easy though.. surely anyone could do it. And I get my own hair cut free too by a relative I trained up (got pro-scissors and clipper set). They do it better than any barber I've ever visited now... but tidying and sweeping up afterwards is a bit of a pain at home in the bathroom.

A man of many talents :D...Pls let me know if you are moving to London at any point in the future. I do prefer subtle multi streaks and a blunt cut. I have paid seriously embarrassing amounts of £££ in the past for hair.

Worst was £120 for just a colour and I couldn't afford a cut as well so did it myself with fabric shears.. Turned out quite post modern though.

A moving image though, such as a gif, is just another form of image like a jpg. They are easy to make in something like Abode Image Ready, and if you find a moving image on the internet (unless it's flash or something) you can hotlink add it here on the forums as easily as you do a regular jpg non-moving image. :)

That pic at the end is so ridiculously phallic, I love it (-:

I seriously dislike hair colour on most people. It rarely looks natural, or very good. Apart from being very MSE, almost everyone's hair looks better with as little done to it as possible, just the occasional cut, wash, and brush, and bob's your uncle.

Coloured hair always looks flat and unshiny, even before the roots thing kicks in.

Oh my word, I would look so old without a colour on my hair...the grey is becoming a real problem now!

    I blame the kids...:D

Only do it a couple of times a year and always only home dye, the cost of a salon dye (and a cut!) give me the heebie geebies.

Seriously good to see you posting back here NDG.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Sometimes you read a post and it is so far away from the image you have of that person in your mind that it makes you smile. This is one of those.
