    Hello

thought I would post for the first time here on something other than money!

Basically I came off the pill in Feb 09 and so far have had no joy. My partner works nights and I work 9-5 so we only get time to do the deed at weekends. Because of this my new years resolution is to start ovulation testing to increase our chances. (we will have to make time on those days instead of passing each other in the hall). Can anybody suggest anything else i can do to boost my chances? i'm already on folic acid.

I could also do with some help on ovulation tests. please see my other post

I haven't had chance to read all the other posts in this forum as it is very long but you all seem friendly and welcoming so I hope someone can help me.

    Welcome :)

I'm getting a new toy to try very soon... a Clear Blue Fertility Monitor (CBFM) I know some ladies have had success with this;)

We too have work affecting BDing issues. I swear DH's work gives him silly shifts on purpose!!

 sorry just need to have a rant...I really hate my company!!!!

Basically all 5 of us in my dept who work in various parts of the country and are all badly affected by the snow, have phoned in today to work from home. No response from our boss to any of us to acknowledge our calls/emails, until a sarcastic email comes through listing a bunch of people who made it in.

I'm certain;ly not going to feel bl*ody guilty at not wanting to put myself in a situation where I'd probably get stranded...my boss lives about 10 mins away from the office too, and the people he mentioned who made it in live nowhere near any of us.

He also knows I am preg...did he really expect me to trudge through inches of snow and try to do a (normally) 1.5 hour journey on 2 trains, when I'd most likely get virtually nowhere and then risk getting stranded????

Its not even as if we cant all work from home. We have super duper laptops, blackberries, connection to the company network etc....auuugh makes me so mad.

I'm so not going back there after squid is born...i've done my nearly 6 years at that place. Time to move on methinks!

I work in a school and the boss has told us tomorrow we WILL be in. We are to spend today moving the car to a main road, or just catch public transport and/or set off early tomorrow.

I want another snowday now just to upset him. He doesn't word his emails politely at all...it's kind of like he doesn't care. A boss that doesn't care....never.

Your bosses sound like right t*ats, they totally deserve our disdain :D
Your work closed? We're still in :( But I can walk as don't live too far out and I have to say I totally enjoyed it. I practically frolicked all the way in through the snow! :o I just wish I had my own snowboard as I'd have gone to South Park at lunch and got some practice in for my holiday..(if they re-open Gatwick by Saturday that is..) And I'm on CD18 today, we're almost cycle buddies ;)

Love and sticky baby/beandust for you all (and some warming thoughts.. :D)

edit to add: twinklie - he sounds like a real charmer! Thinking snowy thoughts for you up there ;) !!!!!! man..

Yep, I don't know if it's because a lot of staff live in out of the way places where the buses have been pulled off, or just pre-empting the weather getting worse (at least that's what the weather reports have been saying) - there's no students around yet, so perhaps they're just being nice to us. We've had 6" so far where I live and I think it's going to get worse.
  • Welcome Dusty.

I used the First Response Ovulation sticks and managed to conceive the 2nd month I used them.

I think it helps if you have a regular cycle/periods etc, but they worked for me. My sister recommended them, they worked for her too after a few months of just trying to guess her ov time.

You can get them in Boots..they're not cheap, but you get 5 sticks in a box and when I bought them they came with a free First Resp pregnancy test. Sometimes Boots do BOGOF deals too on stuff like that.

Hilariously I heard about an hour ago that my boss and all the other hero's who made it into the office had all legged it as Windsor was like a blizzard!!! So if I'd gone in I'd be panicking now about getting out again!

What a chump! I'm hoping he has a complete nightmare getting home so he can stop being so holier than thou about it all!

  • wow some great stuff already. thank you so much Will take a while for me to learn all the abbreviations though so bare with me.
Am heading to Boots asap to get the OH some zinc.

My cycle is all over the place since coming off the pill. I normally start with some very light spotting on the 25 day and then a heavy period begins a couple of days later. This can vary though. the other month I went 7 weeks without anything (I then let my mother convice me I was pregnant which was stupid).

I want to ov test to give us the best possible chance but as my cycle is all over the place I don;t even know the best days to test. I tested sketchily towards the end of 09 but it seems I never ovulated. I assume I was testing the wrong days. would it be ridiculous to test every day? It would be costly but I don't know what else to do. Will definitely sign up to one of those websites though.

I kind of feel like we are just playing at trying at the minute as we aren't really giving ourselves the best chance, I hope so much to be PG by the end of 2010.

Well, we have 2ft of snow here for the last couple of days.
Feeling really pants about being stuck at home totally stranded, and then Mr Postie delivered my BBT & Ovulation stuff! Woo hoo! :j

So glad I bought him a big box of chocs for Christmas :D

So I'm gonna start charting from tomorrow and start testing on the 10th.... :D
