Hi all,
First of all lots of hugs to Jenny, Ellie and Maria - it is so frustrating what we have to go through when TTCing . I hope you are getting lot of real hugs from your OHs and are coping.
I've not been on for a few days as I've been really illand only now have felt well enough to get online.
As usual I'm going to fill you all in on the details (don't quite know why I feel the need)!! I first felt poorly last Thurs night with my tummy feeling really crampy, then had diarhea and a headache on Fri along with feeling exhausted. Over the weekend I felt ok but tummy was still cramping so went for a jog in the cold rain on Sun morning (now think that was a bad idea!) in the hope that it would help.
I worked on Mon and felt fine despite having woken up at 4am and not having got to sleep again (grrr). Then around 4:30pm I got bad tummy ache again and felt really cold. Got a lift home with a colleague and felt freezing in the car so she said I must be poorly cos she was warm (swear it was freezing though - and its about an hours drive home from the office!).
Then woke up at 2am Monday night feeling freezing and shaking like a cray person. Didn't work on Tues and had another freezing and shaking episode in the afternoon so called NHS direct who said to see a doctor. Doc took my temp and said I had a fever and there was lots of bugs going round right now so just to rest up and wait.
But then I got worse Wed & Thur and was completely bed ridden, and the pain in my belly had concentrated to just one spot where it really hurts. I spoke to NHS direct who were woried it could be an ectopic pg, so went to see another doc (really annoyingly my docs only let you make appointments for the same day and you have to ring at 8:30 to have any chance so I've been going to walk in centres). He did lots of tests and it turns out its a uninary tract infection - I have to admit it has hurt a bit when peeing for a while now but I hadn't really thought about it until asked. I also didn't realise they could cause you to be so ill. At least I've got some antibiotics now so should hopefully feel better soon.
I've not been able to eat hardly anything and now when I eat even a tiny bit it comes straight back upso I've been living on a diet of paracetamol, folic acid water and now antibiotics!
Its a bit depressing as I was really hopeful for this month as we BD'd for the full 5 days that I could poss be fertile - and I've been telling myself that timing is why we've not been sucessful yet. But I really can't see me having a sticky bean after all my high temps and lack of food
Whats also bad is that as I've been finding work rather stressful at the moment, I've actually appreciated being ill to some extent, even when I've felt terrible- I can't wait for maternity leave!
Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0 -
Hi Everyone, so sorry to hear from those with sad news. My thoughts are with you. Keep strong.
...Just dropping in quickly to share this as the mask thing intrigued me:
Mask of Pregnancy (Melasma, Chloasma, Discolored Skin)
It's not Halloween, yet you look like you're wearing a mask during pregnancy. What's up?
What it is: Dark, blotchy, brown patches of skin on the forehead, upper lip, and cheeks are often called the mask of pregnancy. This condition affects 50 to 75 percent of expectant mothers and is especially common in dark-skinned women and those of Asian descent.
What causes mask of pregnancy: The mask of pregnancy — technically called melasma or chloasma — can appear when a steep rise in estrogen levels stimulates excess melanin production. Exposure to sunlight can make it worse. The good news: The discoloration is temporary and usually disappears after delivery or, in some cases, after you finish breastfeeding.
What you can do about mask of pregnancy: Make a good concealer your best friend. Choose one a shade lighter than your usual product (or your skin tone, if you don’t usually use one) and apply it to the patchy spots. Then apply your regular foundation to the rest of your face, avoiding the patches. If concealer causes other problems (oily skin or sensitive skin), turn to pressed powder to lighten the spots. Most compacts come in a wide range of colors for all skin tones. Use a concealer that’s noncomedogenic.
What solutions are off-limits: Don’t use peels, bleaches, or other chemically based lightening treatments, which can potentially penetrate the skin. Lasers, which can be irritating (especially now), are no-no’s, too.
What preventive steps you can take: Wear a high SPF — 15 or more — sunscreen all day, every day, even if you’re not going outside (harmful rays come right through your windows). Go for a fashion statement (and a skin saver) by sporting glam sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat when you leave the house. If melasma persists even after you’ve weaned, ask your dermatologist about treatment options.

Afternoon ladies!
Sorry you're so poorly Maddie, at least it's just a UTI rather than anything really awful. Get well soon though (and don't rush back to work)
Maria, sorry to hear what you're going through. I mc'd at 7 weeks in July so I know how awful you feel right now, it will pass though and you will have a sticky bean (((hugs)))
Not a lot to report from me (when is there really!). CD17 so started my 2ww but don't think I got lucky this month really. Saying that, I was having a look at my FF charts the other day and the month I did become pg we only bd'd twice so it just shows that it only takes one.
Very relieved it's the weekend. One of my classes (my awful year 9s who I'm actually warming to) stood up and started clapping and cheering me in the middle of the lesson this afternoon! Made me laugh(I still kept them in late for talking though

Thanks Courgette - yes its great to know what it is and that its nothing more sinister - I've never had a fever before or a UTI so had been a bit freaked out by it all tbh (usually when I'm ill I rest for a day then I'm fine again).
What do you teach? Must feel great being cheered!Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0 -

It's because I'm an amazing teacher and they can see how hard I work for them and are truly grateful for all the effort I put in to their education. My classes? Waste time? 15 minutes before the end of a day on Friday? How dare you!Updating soon...0 -

hello:D
mariagti so sorry to hear your news, i've had two mcs and with both started ttc straightaway, i personally think start ttc when you feel emotionally ready and thats what my doctor said.
maddie hope you get better soon.
i did another OV test today and there was still a faint pink line, so i will be jumping on OH later:rotfl:
Trying to be positive this month and hoping for that bfp, i just keep thinking to myself that with my first mc, had a period then got the bfp so this should now be the month i get one:D0 -

:rotfl:I think I must be naive! Although it must surely mean they like you, as they are comfortable to be cheeky iyswim?
Confuzzled - why aren't you on the testing list? I find it ironic that you do the list and are never on it!
I'm being naughty now - must be getting better - read the nhs page about UTIs and it doesn't mention anything about vomiting  OH says it just comes with the fever.
Does anyone know where the embryo gets nutrients from in the first few weeks - is it from the menstrual wall that is already formed? I'm still hoping for the best Christmas pressie EVER but can't help think even if I get a bfp it won't be a sticky oneProud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0
