Morning ladies-This might turn into a long boring rambling post so sorry in advance.

I havent been on for a few days as have been feeling really upset-I went to see the consultant on friday as my pregnancy puts me into high risk due to my spinal surgerys. The appointment was at 10am but I was actually called in at 12.15 and this was after enquiring twice at reception as others
who came in after me were seen to before me-apparently they couldn't find my notes.
Well the consultant was the most unfriendly and robotic woman I have ever met in my life, she didn't introduce herself, never once smiled and did nothing to put me at ease,in fact she made me feel like an idiot for asking questions which to me are important. There was a medical student there and a nurse to check bp and urine etc-she hardly spoke or looked at me and only muttered to the student about me.
I was referred for physio and an apointment for anesthetist(sp), when I asked if the anesthetist would to tell me if I will be having a general anesthetic caesarean or possibly local she looked at me in a weird way as if she was laughing at me and said what makes you think you can have a caesarean just because you have a spinal problem -I've never operated on a woman just beacuse she has back pains .I reminded her about my surgery and that my midwife, gp and even my orthopaedic surgeon have always said caesarean is the safest and only option for me as I can't have epidural injected into my back and a normal labour would probably damage my spine further and also that babys growth has to be monitored closely as baby getting to heavy would put further strain on me so possibility of prem baby but she refused to listen.I never once saw her have a look at my notes and then I was just ushered out of the room with her saying send the next one in to the nurse.
I spent most of friday bawling my eyes out-because of the way she made me feel and also because ever since my surgerys I have had a severe phobia of hospitals so I always like to put my my mind at ease by asking questions so I know what to expect etc-I'm not scared of labour pain or anything , it's just that I know what my body can cope with and I have and do suffer from enough back pain and problems already & I know a normal delivery would make things much worse.I'm terrified of what might happen now so have made an appointment to see midwife on 23feb as my 20week scan is on the 19th(another thing for me to worry myself about)
sorry for boring you all but had to get it off my chest.
    Love can tame the wildest

SS - congrats on being 25 weeks x

Sonee - am not scared of hospitals, but think if I had been treat like that Id be in a state too, I think you ought to complain tbh. She shouldn't treat patients like that, its just not proffesional or very caring. Deffinatley speak to your MW about the whole issue, if you dont get it off your chest and find out the info you require it'll only work you up and that isnt good.

jopsey - pregnant nun is fab, and should be easy and comfy too.

Well rubbish nights sleep! Nose is blocked and have a dry throat, also my lip split due to dryness and had a mouth full of blood!! Feel achey and tired now, but restless cos of it. OH yet again is fast asleep but came downstairs and he left my valentines pressie on the kitchen unit. Havent opened the card yet but have a huge bar of galaxy and a big box of Lindor, both my faves :D

From what i found, clary sage oil is meant to help bring on labour.
Here's the google search - link

Its really expensive in H&B though, so i ordered from ebay.

Some people say it works, some say it doesn't. So i guess im willing to try it :)

I wrote that (whats in quote) from what i've read, im using jojoba as my carrier/base oil for the massage :)
But you can use any :) Some recommened using Sweet Almond oil, but OH has a nut allergy and i want him to do the massage haha/

I used this in my bath once a day last week after reading up on it for a couple days , But please be careful about how much you actually use of clary sage as it can be harmful to baby if u use to much , with the bath there are lots and lots sites , and some say 5 - 10 drops some actually say 2 drops , and with massage , it should be a cpl drops mixed with a oil , and be careful it does burn , i did stop massage it in after 2 times as bubs went really quiet and upset me a bit , and after i washed it off and moisturised i actually had to listen to heart beat as he was to quiet to what he usually was, In some sites it states do not use this until u are overdue or in labour as again it can be harmful , i only used it as last week they told me i was in slow labour , (this isnt medical advise), but i would read up on some more sites before using it if you are not overdue or in labour HTH

Thanks Kindof, I go between wanting to know and not wanting to know. I'm not at all fussed either which way, although I've just always thought of it as being a boy. Could be wrong, but hey, so long as all the bits n bobs are where they should be I'll be pleased.

sonee - how awful, some drs are terrible and can't communicate. I had an awful endocrinologist registrar though the consultant himself was absolutely lovely. There's some info here on how to complain.

For those wanting bras, I'd really recommend Bravissimo - it's a bit more pricey but as an already big chested person who has tried everywhere I would really recommend them. They don't use tape measures but for you by making sure it really fits. You could then always go and buy cheaper bras elsewhere, but I'd rather have one or two decent ones.

  • My four year old just did an impression of a pregnant lady. It involved bending over like an old woman and clutching her belly as she waddled out the room.

    I'm only 27 weeks, and that's what she sees!:rotfl:

  • Afternoon all, hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
Still busy renovating our kitchen and the house is a pig sty, I hate it!

Am 17+3 today and this is my first so I know I won't necessarily feel anything yet but I'm starting to get really paranoid about it anyway. Just feel like its the next thing I'm waiting for and that it will be reassuring once I can feel bubs move. When did you all feel movement with your first? I know there's various things that can effect when you feel movement but I just need some reassurance about it now. :D
