Im fussy with food, i wont eat anything seafood/fish like (except fishcake from the chip shop lol) because i know i wont like it, i've never had it, i just know it smells bad and i hate it lol.
Also i wont eat anything that doesn't look right or has an odd colour. My aunt tried to get me to taste this thing on her plate before, and it was grey... Thats not normal to me lol.
Also, i can eat sausages, bacon, burgers, etc. But i cant stand beef and pork... lol.0 -

Afternoon all!
Haven't had much of a chance to read and post as kitchen is still being worked on......nightmare! Can't wait for the kitchen to be finished and i'll have the house back to it's normal state. Keep checking in to hear news of SJ baby.
I seem to have terrible trapped wind and constipation pretty much constantly lately! Need to start taking my lactulose more regularly again me thinks and I need to make sure I'm getting enough water as I know I haven't been these last few days. Is this pretty much normal in pregnancy? I suffer with constipation a lot at the best of times but the trapped wind seems to be so constant and so painful at times!0 -
do you have green notes Gym , as in mine on page 12 it says this about head being engaged :
5/5 = free
4/5 = sitting on pelvic brim
3/5 = lower but most is still above brim
2/5 = enagaed as most is below the brim
1/5 oe 0/5 = deeply engaged
as i was 0/5 on friday , so you being 4/5 means u still have a few more to go than 1/5 IYSWIM by my notes

:(:(
I burst into tears when the lady told me my results were high. My glucose tolerance test showed that I have no tolerance and have gestational diabetes. I spent three hours at the hospital, seeing various people.
The diabetes nurse wouldn't go into details, said I have to come back thursday when they can explain things in detail, for now I just have to take it in... I'll have a different doctor now, I'll be measuring my blood four times a day , get a scan every month, including one today (cherub cheeks and no, his willy has not fallen off - this is what my dad wants as he would like a granddaughter :rotfl:). And I got given a leaflet full of things I never eat that will constitute my diet??? And another leaflet that says things like 'it usually goes away', 'probable cs', 'still birth in late pregnancy'. So glad they didn't check my blood pressure .
And now I feel hungry. Had lunch but am really craving something sweet!
hun, its not that bad honest. I had it diagnosed at 30 weeks & my results were borderline but got progressively worse. I didn't eat much but what I did start to eat was healthy stuff like brown bread, brown rice, brown pasta etc instead of white. I am quite a fussy eater which doesn't help but they said tomato based food was OK so I ate lots of spag bol, chilli, pasta bake etc. You'll soon see which foods make it high and which don't providing you test an hour after each meal. I once tested after a 3 course F&B which ended with a Cinnamon Waffle Crunch - it was about 16! Supposed to be under 7.8
Unfortunately, my GD got worse just because my body wasnt making enough Insulin, nothing I could have done. A week after the test I ended up on Insulin after breakfast & the units went up each week as my sugar levels roseI had to ring the diabetes nurse every few days.
Try to test your blood on different fingers otherwise they will get really sore.
It usually does go away - mine did! However, am more than likely going to get when I get pg againso no Homebirth for me!
Probable C/S - I got told this but it's because they won't allow you to stay in labour for as long as someone without GD because there is more chance of baby getting into distress. I went from not dilated at 4am to 6cm by 6.30am - at 7am they wanted the doctor because they were concerned about J's heartbeat but the doc was busy so I ended up pushing super hard and got him out at 8.17am just as doc walked through the door. If I hadn't I was probably next on the C/S table wheras a non GD person wouldn't IYSWIM.
Stillbirth in late pregnancy - they probably won't let you go over 40 weeks anyway! I was going to be induced at 40weeks but once I got on the Insulin they said 38 weeks. Fortunately my eviction plan worked and at 37 weeks J came on his own. My mum went 2 weeks overdue with all 5 babies and we are all fine
Ignore any crap about 'big babies' - MIL had GD and OH was 5lbs, Jack was 6lbs 3oz despite a scan showing he was over 7lbs at 35 weeks, my mum has diabetes and her babies ranged from 7lbs to 9lb 11oz.
Just think that you will now get extra chances to see bubs (I only got growth scans at 33 and 35 weeks) but you'll probably end up with more hospital appointments.
I got diagnosed on the Wednesday, went back on the Thursday and was back in every other Wednesday after that.

Where does the time go? :think:0 -
peoples ways with food are quite amusing..... its funny how we all have or little quirks...
Since my sister did her "observations" whenever I say anything to DH about his eating, he always comes back with "lets not talk about little miss chews on the left for 20 times, then on right, everything cut in two......shall I go on" by which time im normally laughing as I realise we're both freaks....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Hugs Agutka - sounds like a nightmare for you. I don't know how I'd cope if I wasn't allowed to eat anything sweet.
Twinkles - I remember that as well. It was someone a couple of months ago but like you I can't remember who it was!
Apparantly some Asda's have reduced baby event stuff while others haven't. There was nothing at mine today
If anyone needs a high chair it's worth looking out for this though

They've got some gorgous little boys clothes in at the moment. Had to really restrain myself not to buy any until I've got a better idea of how big baby will be!Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
Fingers crossed Nikkit
SS I hate mince, it smells like cows!! I make it into lasagne cos OH likes it but making it makes me gag everytime!
We're both food weirdo's EAI can eat fish, any vegetable etc just not things that have been made into different things that you can no longer identify! Sausages gross me out, if we ever get them I have to get the absolute best ones I can find to try and tell myself it's ok it's not pig bum that I'm eating!!!
Tea tonight is pasta...dunno what with, maybe asparagus & bacon, maybe tomato & roast veg..hmm. I seem to be cooking all the time at the moment, will make OH cook next so he doesn't get too used to it :PBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
Twinkles - well done for finding that! I was going to say either Helen or KarenMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0
