Nikkit - just chatting to OH about TENS, all the ones on ebay atm are second hand and so would need replacement pads. There £6.99 and the ebay machines are selling for 15 to 25 quid, so not really that much cheaper. OH figures better buying new as at least that way it would have a warranty of some type. Will kep looking tho, might get a bargain like yours if Im lucky.
kindof - glad you got some relief, and your plan sounds alot like I want.
Boo for all the rubbish MWs , like i side my standin today was a lil blunt but at least I saw her and she was willing to answer q's. The trainee she had with her was really lovely and more chatty tho, and really intrested in my PG what with being IVF and having Beta Thalassemia. Think OH was suprised how matter of fact she was, other than my booking appt and trips to hospital this is the first MW appt hes been to with me. Hospital MWs have always been super lovely and as I said to him, there the filks Im worried about come the day, so its all good.Baby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

I had my first in 2005 and it does seem alot different now. All i want is a decent connection with my midwife as at the end of the day i'm in her hands and if she doesn't know me that well then it worries me. She told me at my 7week check, last time i seen her, that she'll be present at my birth but i don't really want her there. So sorry for my moaning, have to let it off,lol

Bexta I had my anti-d in my arm as well though I know some women have them in their butt, but I wasn't given a choice. It stung like crazy when the stuff was going in but I'm one of those weird people who quite enjoys injections/tattoos etc.0

Evening ladies
Haven't seemed to have much time for posting, it's been a hectic week!
It's my best friends hen do on Sat night so I've spent my evening making gingerbread willies! They've turned out really well and I feel very proud of myselfWe're going to write everyone's names on them in icing and use them as place cards on the table.

Oh Pants!!! I had a reply all typed out and for some bizarre reason when i hit send, everything disappeared and i've lost it all!!!
MV - that's awesome about the scan!! Take it easy and try to relax, stress wont help you or the wee one!
Sarah Joanne - can i ask something about your birth plan - the thing about waiting till the cord stops pulsing before cutting it, is this normally the case or do they usually just cut it whenever? I've not heard of that before, thank you!
When my DD was born, we were skin to skin and DH didn't want to cut it so i was like 'give me the scissors!!' and i cut it myself, it was great!
I totally empathise with all those having MW probs - i am due next appointment on monday, will be 30+3 and will be getting a completely new MW - as oppose to the one i've met and dealt with since 10weeks, and who i actually didn't mind! The one i had last time was great but no where to be seen on the day! The 'wee girl' that delivered me 4years ago looked barely out of school far less having been to uni etc and was caked in make-up like she was on a night out, everytime she left the room my DH was like 'what now, more mascara or lippy?'!!!
Gill - love the gingerbread willy idea!!! Hope you all have a great nite out!!
I am feeling a bit like a pin cushion this evening - had to go for a glucose tolerance test this morning and it took 4 people 5 gos to get blood out of me at 9am, then had to go back at 11 for them to try again! A wee bitty bruised so i am! lol

You might feel better once you are into the final weeks and see her more often, i remember feeling the same way as you cos there was such huge gaps between being seen. Also, there was one mw i wasn't keen on having at the birth, and i had a HB so it depended who was on duty. Anyway she turned up and i was gutted for about 3 seconds but she was actually really lovely and i'd love her to deliver my baby again if i was gonna have one!
Strange how she knows she'll be at your birth, i don't think any of ours would come in on a day off!0 -

Hi ladies -Can I join here please,I'm due on the 6th july with my first baby.
I'm trying to read through the thread bit by bit.I'm happy but very scared.
I'm 16 weeks now and suffered from horrible morning and all day sickness from abt 4 weeks until week 13.I'm able to eat now and I am addicted to orange juice and orange fanta and haven't been able to face looking at tea, coca cola and anything with milk in since I fell pregnant.
I suffer from a spinal deformity and have been told tha this pregnancy is high risk -I can't stop worrying and will be seeing a consultant on the 12 feb and have been told that I will have a lot more checkups and scans than normal and will be having a c section under general anesthetic-Has anybody else ever had a c section under general.Sorry for the long post.Love can tame the wildest0 -

They don't know why I am bleeding, but she did see some blood on the scan which is on it's way out and told me not to be upset/worried if I get a few big splats in the next day or so. The area of bleeding was on the opposite side to the baby though so that was good.
So..I have to go back again to EPU on 1st Feb for another scan and just take it easy till then. They've done all my blood/urine tests etc today and I'm offically 'booked in' now, so will just have to see what the next few weeks bring.
Can't wait to join this thread properly and the EDD list!

That's really good news. Hopefully will put your mind at rest a bit now, and not long to wait until the 1st.maureenjscott wrote: »Sarah Joanne - can i ask something about your birth plan - the thing about waiting till the cord stops pulsing before cutting it, is this normally the case or do they usually just cut it whenever? As far as I am aware they just clamp it and cut it pretty much straight away, unless you request otherwise.
Gymfriend I can't believe how walking you've done today!! I have totally worn myself out too. Baked a cake this morning then decorated it this afternoon. After that I started on tea, made an extra 4 portions of mash for the freezer, then made a 10 portion bolognaise for the freezer. Then washed up. Now my back is killing and I am tired as hell.
Think I will sleep well tonight!
And re the missing smileys - surely it's easier to simply insult someone with words than use a smiley?!

choccybikkie wrote: »Hi Guinea, I am in the same situ with MK hosp. I had my last 3 there which was fine but the last one was 6 yrs ago and from what I hear things are getting increasingly worse.
My friend gave birth there 12 days ago and confirmed things weren't good. She said a lot of equip was either not available or broken and there weren't many available staff.
The latest report in Citizen 1st which said the PCT were reccomennding mums go to either Northampton,Bedford or Stoke Mandeville is all well and good but my last labour was appx 40 mins which is how long it takes to get to any of those (on a good day!).
I am considering now a HB which initially I wasn't too happy with cos I have 3 other kids and also although I had 3 normal births and pg's my last dd's heart rate was dropping during contractions and they had to use a scalp monitor thing on her whilst she was birthing and she was born with the cord round her neck. My MW insists this has no reflection on what will happen this time and was trying to push a HB but since finding out this baby has a dilated kidney at 20 w scan,I don't know how that may change things (I haven't had a mw apt since 16 w and my next one is at 28 w which is 2 w time).
It is quite disheartening to hear even the professionals are suggesting we should go to another hosp to give birth and really makes you wonder how bad things can be at MK:eek:
I really don't fancy giving birth on the A421:rolleyes:
I have my last antenatal class tomorrow and my midwife runs it so I shall ask her about it all. See if she can shed any light. I'm going to admit to being slightly dim here and say that I actually thought that she would be at the birth until a couple of weeks ago when someone told me that it would just be whoever's on duty!! After all this stuff with MK I am now going to write a birthing plan whereas before my husband was just going to tell them what I want but I now want it all written down. What to do?!
I was thinking of using the birthing pool but I don't want to get my hopes up in case it's not available.
Decisions, decisions....:think:Baby Bump born 4th March 2010! :kisses:
