    Afternoon Ladies

I have found a place in Truro Cornwall ( I am in Exeter Devon) that does Private Scans 2D 3D & 4D
    Early Viability Scan

Purpose of the scan: viability scan is for women who want to make sure that all is well during 6 weeks to 12 weeks of their pregnancy.
Early Viability Scan 15 minute appointment time . Includes 2D or 3D images: £49.00

Do any of you think this is a good idea???? I think have no signs or symptons and part of me would like to know that all is ok???

    Thanks

I personally dont, cos I think say you are 6 weeks and get it done, and they tell you everything is ok, something can still go wrong at the 12 week one :(

    But thats just me

I know a lot of people on here who have had Miscarriages before have had these scans done on a later pregnancy and found them reassuring

Gymfiend - I wouldnt worry about it, I think you are a good size (going off your pics) me though I am 14 stone 11 and I am only 5 foot 7, I can see me reaching 15 stone 5 or something like that by the time I am full term, then I will need to loose 6 stone to get to my target weight jeez lol

Awww CAFC you are going to start off the sausage roll missions again lol

1more? I am pleased the telling went ok :)

Aww PP I am sending totally uber massive labour vibes to you

    Gemma good luck for tomorrow

Well I had started playing Terminator Salvation on the pC that I got for christmas, its the first pc game ive played I usually play console games, well OH just kept telling me what to do and what I was doing wring, so we ended up arguing, I was like stop playing the game through me!!! lol

So he is now playing on that and I am going to go and play on mario kart I think

I think I've now fallen out of love with the Greggs sausage roll over the immense disappointment earlier....

Although I've had a hankering for days for a burger king bacon double cheese burger...
This baby is either going to come out wrapped in a layer of lard or with some crazy desire to become a vegetarian ;)

  • PP....am sending you big hugs. I cant imagine what you are going through.

Well i am back from the hospital. Surprise surprise my bp was sky high again. Have got to have 24hr bp cuff on next week and have got to be booked in for a kidney scan (something to do with bp but if anyone can reassure me that would be great). Also had bloods taken for kidney function.

On a plus i got to hear bumps heart beat. Not sure why they needed to hear it but was good for me to hear as i havent felt anything as yet.

So it looks like the next 22wks wil be spent popping in and out of the hospital :-(

Gemma...hope all goes well for your induction tomorrow and that you will be having snuggles with your new bundle very soon

Tinkwings....i would say if you can afford it and it will put your mind at ease then do it. I know you are at an early stage and anything can happen as nothing is guarenteed (being a worrier i know how you feel) but if it will ease your mind then do it. I am convinced something is going to go wrong and any little bit of reasurrance helps me.

Beautiful baby boy arrived 20th June 2010...Harry..weighing 7lb 4oz on fathers day :j
  • CAFCgirl i know what you mean on the food front. Normally i am very healthy and eat loads of fruit and veg but since being pregnant have craved junk. Fruit i am managing a little bit but unless veg is put in front of me then i am not interested.

Doughnut wk i was going to the supermarket everyday for a 5 pack of fresh doughnuts. Then i had Mint Mcflurry wk, pot noodle wk and now i crave salt and vinegar crisps!!!

ooooooooooooooh im with you on the salt and vinegar crisps, although that was a lot earlier for me, about 8 weeks.

    my latest is blueberry muffins.......
I never liked fruit at the best of times, im ok with veg but preferred it all roasted off so its got some crunch to it.

DH pointed out that due to mass muffin consumption im going to end up with dreaded muffin top, but then i pointed out i can la blame on bump MUAHHAHHAHAHA!

  • Hey ladies :hello:

I got a call about antenatal classes today, they start next Monday, 2 hours a week for 4 weeks - anyone else been and found them really useful cos if I manage to get to them all I'll be a week overdue

Someone was asking about what their midwife does/doesn't do? I've been quite disappointed in mine as she's never checked the HB. She's efficient and does the blood/urine tests very well but it all feels very routine for her IYSWIM. She only checked the postition at the 34 week appointment because I asked her to and then she couldn't tell me the difference between her !!!! and her head :rotfl:This week (36 weeks) she said she's head down and 3/5ths engaged :j On the downside, she weighed me for the first time since 12 weeks and I've put on 3 and a half stone in total  I'm consoling myself with the fact I haven't been able to do any exercise because of the ectopic early on and the SPD but even so....hopefully BF and lots of walking with the pram will pay off :o

YMS - glad your scan went well :D

    Eviesmummy - congrats & welcome :D

JHA - congrats and welcome to the world Orit :D

Gym - please be careful in the snow! For this very reason OH won't let me go outside unless I'm hanging onto him :o He even makes me wait in the car till he can come round and help me out which is very sweet

PP - hope you're feeling better - massive labour vibes!

Gemma - good luck for tomorrow :D

Tink - I'd have to say no but that's because I can think of better things to spend £50 on. Of course if money were no object I'd have had a scan every day but even after 12 weeks you worry about the 20 week scan being OK, then you worry about getting to V-day (viability at 24 weeks) then the birth, then I would imagine a whole new world of worrying opens up :rotfl:

Not had this scan myself but I did have a bit of a Google and came up with that it may be to check that your high blood pressure isn't affected or caused by your kidneys.
A kidney scan is done to:
    • Check the blood flow through the kidneys. Abnormal flow may mean narrowed renal arteries that can cause a type of high blood pressure called renovascular hypertension.

The above was taken from the WebMD site though obviously you'd be best asking your GP/midwife. A few paragraphs down on this page came up with this too so I suppose it could be for any number of reasons! Someone brainier than me might come along with an answer though.

I hope everyone else is doing well.
