Whenever my body is running a temperature when im ill, i try to keep my temperature elevated. The body will try to seek out and destroy viruses/bacteria, and as we do with cooking to kill germs, when you raise the temp you kill them off, hence why the body creates a higher temperature to kill the virus.....
I learnt that from my chiropractor, about the body's immune system. The same guy that taught me all about vaccinations.... and im glad im more informed now, even my new gp agreed with me about the swine flu vaccination when I turned it down and gave my reasons.
However PP if you really think she needs more medical attention, then i wouldnt wait, get her there now and basically dont leave until she gets what you know works for her...Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Scots - YAY for team IBHS (Ignored By Health Service)..
I know I didnt help things by moving, but considering Beenie had her lovely little girl, its not like the midwife team dont have a gap for meWealth is not measured by currency0 -
This may sound controversial..... and im not sure how it would work exactly with kids but im sure its the same principle...

ok gonna try n type but excuse mistakes have dd1 on my right side n dd2 on my lap! lol
i do agree with you i currently have the heating on full and she has wrapped herself up in a fleece blanket last time i took her temperature this morning it was 39.4!!! So id rather bring her body temperature down but keep her warm with the heating blankets if that makes sense?? lol
Wheezing has eased off a little bit so im going to see how she goes but id rather get her seen again today so that she is better for tomorrow than ending up in a&e tomorrow!0 -
Awww for the whole group replying!
I totally agree on getting her seen today, rather than tomorrow. And I really feel for her, its no fun being ill, let alone ill at Christmas.
My understanding from my chiro (I worked with him for nigh on a year and this is the advice I gave out to our members) of the principle is that the internal body temp is whats trying to fight off the bugs, its the body's natural response and defence system. Have you tried giving her a warm/hot bath? And then just have her in some cosy pj's and a blanket maybe, with some hot drinks. Hot ribena was/still is my favorite when I've got anything on the chest.
If she's been wheezing/coughing a lot as well her back muscles have probably tightened up as well which wont help, some gentle massage around her ribs at the back may help with that, doesnt have to be professional standard, but you just want to loosen some of the tension out of them, and if she can, have her sit upright. If she scrunches over, her muscles will be more tense, meaning breathing becomes more painful.......Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
maz - your list sounds fine! Quite similar to mine. You put CDs...do you have a CD player and some batteries? I'm bringing loads of spare batteries for our iPod speakers & the handheld fan I have. Also, I'd bring a packet of spare nappies in case you're in for longer than 24 hrs as 10 really isn't very many (just leave them in the car?). I have the opposite problem with cramps/tightenings...they seem like they're going to amount to something in the afternoon/evening, but as soon as I go to bed everything disappears!! So annoying.
PP, hope your DD feels better. Must be crap for her to feel bad over Christmas. Is there not something they can give her to take home to breathe easier?
Maybe we'll all go tomorrow and have a massive baby-birthing Christmas-a-thon :rotfl: :rotfl:(wishful thinking!!)
Just got back from morning errands...got some more RLT (bought loads of extra so hopefully it will all be wasted by having baby tonight, :A) and found non-alcoholic mulled wine in H&B!! Braved Sbury's for some milk - crazy busy but at least the queues moved quick. Went to Starbucks for an eggnog latte and was really annoyed as they were out! (eggnog is my American Christmas Eve tradition and Starbucks is the only way I can get some!!). This afternoon's project is to tackle the baking for tomorrow...maz, I like your theory of enticing baby out with yummy smells from baked goods!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

she actually wants to go out and play in the snow! :rotfl: she took herself upstairs and got out of her pyjamas and got herself dressed she wasnt very happy when i told her no and has refused to get back into her pjs since!
She has had a warm bath already, and she wont drink hot drinks even as a baby she wouldnt drink her milk unless it was cold :rotfl:
have also tried the massage and it did help a bit she now isnt complaining that it hurts everytime she breathes in and out which is a good thing as she was crying everytime which was making it worse too!
Im going to keep on as i am for now and see how she goes my friend has already said if i need to take her up to the hospital then to ring her straight away and she will take us straight up there which is one good thing cost me a tenner getting her up there and back last night!
aless the last time it took a course of soluble steroids to clear it combined with the nebuliser which has to be administered at the hospital, at the moment she doesnt get them often enough for me to get one at home however if she starts going down the same route as what my sister did at her age then it may well be something that i will need to look into in the future0 -
Just realised i was sat here tracking santa online with the kids http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html
they have both gone and left me now im tracking santa on my own:rotfl:

PP- hope she does start to feel better soon, must be realy hard for you at the moment.
Glad you have had a productive day Aless and Som
Maz- that seems a good bag, mine isn't quite so big but now wondering if I need to pack more if induction takes a few days to work?
It seems that everyone else is having a productive day, I haven't moved from the sofa yet. Still feelig sorry for myself, my deliver from HDNL still hasn't turned up, got a message to say it would be here between 9.30-12.30 and no sign yet, didn't get a message to say it wouldn't be delivered yesterday so a bit annoyed I have stayed in for two whole days waiting for parcels (apart from hosp yesterday). Still keep crying, today got set off by OH arranging to go sale shopping with his cousin on Sunday instead of coing to the hosp with me on Sunday, I don't mind when he is at work but thought he would come with me on Sunday. My mum and sis will come with me instead. Its horrible waiting with all the couples and families when you are there by yourself, especially as I look a lot younger then I am I must look like a gymslip single mum and get paranoid about people thinking the worst of me (woah- just read that back I sound like a proper whinger today!!)
Also, just a heads up but very.co.uk have got 75% off and loads of cute baby clothes mega cheap.
Still trying to get my head around induction and being a mum in 2 weeks rather then 5, but at least I know when I will be in.
Hope everyone is feeling festive

They have CD players at the hospital, which is nice :T and i presume spare batteries (or they'll definitely get us another CD player if not).
Ipod speakers may be good idea tho cos can only take limited CDs and can't judge how my mood will be at the time!
With the nappies, we're quite lucky as we only live literally round the corner from the hospital so if we need anything else, OH can come home & get them. We're actually so close we're planning on him dropping me off at hospital & getting settled, then driving car back home (or parking at top of street anyway) and him walking back. Means paying for minimum parking, & it would only take him 10 minutes to drive car round & walk back so he won't miss anything (unless it is an emergency, but then we can always leave car in car park and just pay!):j Very proud mummy to Evie Mae born 26/12/09 :jAims for 2010 - be a good mummy, lose (some) weight, clear (some) debts, be happy0 -
oh Gemma, I forgot to ask - do you want me to add your induction date to the EDD list?top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne
