  • Think the idea of induction was why i got upset when she couldn't even do the sweep. I hadn't really considered it as a likely option until that point so hadn't thought about it, but the midwife seemed sure she'd see me on christmas eve for the sweep (not before!) & that would be when they'd book me in for induction.

But then she did say baby's head is so far engaged that she was surprised i could even sit down, & put it down in my notes as 1/5, & I always thought that was a good sign?

maz - they can't do sweeps if the cervix is still really high and far back (and closed). Baby's head being engaged is almost irrelevant, though that USUALLY helps your cervix to soften a bit and drop so they can do sweeps. She was prolly so surprised b/c with the head so low, it would normally make the cervix more favorable to doing a sweep.

Just remember that labor can start at the drop of a hat - you don't have to had a single 'sign'! Try and relax and think positive, as stressing can can things even more unfavorable.

Glad you are OK and home now SOm- Like you sya a stay in hospital is good practice for the real thing. Def get OH to pamper you tho and don't try to do to much (I know it is really hard at first but you need to slow down)

Gill- glad you don't have to worry about work for a bit longer, your employers sound really good

Maz- sorry about the sweep, are you going to try and home 'remedies' to try and speed things up?

Still got loads of snow, but managed to get the dog out for a walk this pm, was nice to be in the cold for a while, but I'm not sure he was too impressed.

I managed to cook 5 bolognese portions and 12 cottage pies (well kind of, I had onions carrots peas mince and gravy bubbling away then addes mashed potato, just made it up really as couldn't be bothered to search for a recipe and i've never done it before) for the freezer this morning so feel a bit productive today.

Gutted if you need naked nails for a waterbirth, mine have been painted all the time for at least 8 years, they now look horrible when naked so not looking forward to having to take that off!!

feeling a bit stir c razy as dog walking is the only time i have left the house since wednesday, ah well OH only has 2 days left at work then off til January so at least I have some copany (or someone to drive me even more crazy!) for a couple of weeks
