i thought a base went inside the car and kept the car seat from moving about too much......
can anyone recommend any other good travel systems?, money is a bit of an issue mainly because we havent got any lolWealth is not measured by currency0 -
You can use a carseat without a base, I 'think' the difference is in the need for a seatbelt? I know when we take our niece in the car, we don't use a base, but in her mums car she has one
Som will have all the answers when she's back onBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
thanks all xx
i suppose its about time i got out of bed......Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Nah you don't need a base for any baby seat as far as i know. All car seats will have a hook for the seatbelt to loop round.
The base will be fixed into place with the seatbelt but means the seat will just click onto the base from then.
Not that i'm an expert, i bought my base a few weeks ago and it's still sat in the box cos i haven't braved fitting it yet :rotfl:
I only bought one cos i'll be doing the school run everyday so wanted to minimise hassle on a morning, and cos i got my pushchair cheap on ebay so put the extra towards it. In the end i paid £45 for travel system and £16 for the base (ebay), both have an rrp of £190 and £350 -
God i'm such a dummy, i just made plans with the bloke who's been fixing my wall to finish the plastering on Monday, and i said "oh i'll be on the school run but home after that"
Doh, it's the hols :rolleyes:0 -

Heya gang am home again now, been here about 2 hours now
. Thanks for all your concern and well wishes xx
Am all good and so is bumpette. Woke up yesterday morning and went to the loo to find a worrying amount of bright red blood. Called triage who told me to come in and go straight to labour ward  but phone ahead and warn them! Labour ward said to expect a 24hour stay and best if OH came with, cue tears! Anyhoo sorted my self out packed an overnight bag and went to Hospital. Was taken straight to a labour room for monitoring, ctg, bp, urine sample etc. After being hooked up for an hour there seemed to be no immediate issue with bubs so had an internal and they found a tad more bloodSo deffinate 24hr stay for monitoring. Was moved to another ward and told to notify MW if I had more bleeding. Had a tiny lil bit more blood around lucnch and the odd bit of pink when visiting the loo but other than that (touch wood) nothing else. Had to have another anti d for bleed, and a damn uncomfy canular inserted in the back of my hand
Anyhoo another trace and round of checks this am and all is ok for now. Doc said they usually monitor for 48hrs but with weather she would discharge me today on the strict instuction I return if more bleeding, so was happy with that. They never did get to the bottom of cause tho, so am now paranoid I may have done somthing and OH is pampering me something wrotten
Funnily enough I kinda enjoyed my stay (I know I must be warped!) but everyone was tres lovely and I now know where everything is and how the system is when I go in for real. I wont feel so awful if I dont have a 6hr turnaround. The food was good and the facilities are nice as are the staff. I also had a really lovely lady in the bed opposite who was fab companyAlso got given a bounty overnight bag with some goodies in hehe.
Anyhoo gonna pop out for a bit but will catch up with you all when I get back xxxBaby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2
