Yes flapjack recipe is really easy and i don't cook at all, lol....just off to fetch itMummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
That does sound easy but I might try it with veggie mince instead
Dont suppose you know a flapjack recipe;)
Ooh, ooh, can I butt in with the best flapjack recipe ever. I got it from the Old Style board and it is amazing!
Flapjack
Porridge Oats (Tesco's value ones work well), 500g
Butter, 300g
Golden Syrup 4 serving spoons
Unsweetended condensed milk, half a tin
Demerera sugar, 340g
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees celcius, you may need to search the web to find a conversion to gas mark (1-9) which many ovens are in.
2. Line the baking tin with baking parchment, this doesn't have to be neat.
3. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over a medium heat.
4. Add the sugar and syrup. Keep heating and stirring until all is melted and mixed. Don't rush by turning the heat up, the sugar will start to caramelise etc. If it starts to boil take it off the heat!
5. Add the condensed milk and mix.
6. Gradually add the oats, folding them in. All the oats should be coated, and the mixture quite dense, but still sticky. Don't add so many oats that the mixture becomes dry.
7. Pour the mixture into the tins and spread about so that it lines the tin to a depth of 2-3cm. Fill as many tins as necessary! Don't squash the mixture in, just spread it evenly.
8. Bake in the oven for ~15mins. If using top and middle shelves swap half way through so they cook evenly.
9. You should take them out when they just start to go brown round the edges, don't leave longer than this. If they're still squidgy in the middle that's fine, they set on cooking.
Also just to say that when I make veggie shepherd's pie I throw in a tin of beans or a handful of red lentils to make it go further :money:and also add a teaspoon of marmite as it gives a lovely flavour.
MGEB- sounds like you are having a round time of at the moment. Hope you start to feel better soon.
Had my Gingerbread Latte in a red cup from Starbucks and it was flipping lovely! Cheered me up on my EDD! I also popped into Boots as two of my husband's colleagues' wives are expecting babies this week too and I wanted to look for gifts for them. I've seen some gorgeous Christmas sleepsuits so will probably get them one those each and maybe some cute little socks!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Ok, here goes flapjack recipe from my ''easy cooking for students'' recipe book:
75g butter/marge (i use utterly butterly so you still get the buttery taste), 2-3 tablespoons golden syrup, 75g soft brown sugar, 150g rolled/porridge oats. I also add raisins once the rest is mixed but that's just coz OH loves them
1) melt the butter/golden syrup and sugar on the hob.
2) once melted add the oats and mix in a little at a time until all sticky and mixed.
3) press it into a shallow greased tin.
4) Bake at 160C/Gas 3 for 15-20 mins until golden and set. Cut (i don't bother as i just break into chunks once cool) then leave to cool.
Really is easy peasy - only thing is the above doesn't make a great deal, as OH loves them so much i tend to double the ingredients so it's not all gone in one eveMummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
