Had my jab yesterday and posted last night to say my arm wasn't sore but i spoke too soon lol. I was sat here last night later, rubbing my arm wondering what i must have banged it on  til the penny fiiiiiiinally dropped and remembered i'd had the jab :rotfl: It's tender to touch, and has a little lump as if i've banged it but it's not too bad really. I'm left handed so got it in my right arm, (not that i ever write lol) and in case it felt a bit dead i needed to be able to change gear painlessly lol.0

redstar i'm with you on the hormonal front, i've been so snappy with my poor DS, i keep apologising to him and saying i'm just tired and will try to stop being grumpy cos i feel so guilty, but he's been so lovely bless him!
Nikki, re. eBay - i used to do all my listing via Turbo Lister and had the preferences set in there to only allow PP bidders but i did all these ones 'manually' and didn't set it  I'm a dunce
Also big hugs to lou, sorry it's not turned out how you imagined but think of the positives, you can feel more prepared in a way hopefully, can't wait to find out your section date so keep us posted :grouphug:0 -

Morning,
Hope your arm is feeling better this morning Beenie
Lovely bump EA, I'm still so teensy in comparison, though OH did refer to me as 'massive' on the phone to his friend last night!!!
Lou sorry about the c-sectionBut at least you'll know now exactly when baby will be arriving (my mum had sections with all 3 of us kids (emergency with first, planned with 2nd and 3rd) and said she loved it, couldn't understand why anyone would choose to go into labour!! & this was many years ago, so they must be even better now recovery wise
)
JHA did you resist the Steiff bears?
Ooh Som I thought Humphrey's Corner was only available in Mothercare, shows what I know, might go for a peek in the Works
Boo to feeling sick Som, can you not pull a sicky?
I'm sat in today waiting for the carpet men to come and do their thing, though need to pull up the old stuff first, delightful job!
Ooh forgot to tell you all, got a baby carrier on eBay the other day, it's this one, OH wanted one like this for his use and I'll get a sling - it's really lovely in real life, only cost about £6 delivered tooWe also got his baby Converse shoes delivered yesterday, and some more clothes, he's got lots now, can't wait to get his drawers so I can start to sort through everything
I also got some nipple cream delivered from Boots with the cot, seriously, what was I thinking waiting so long? I've looked like a flaky scab for weeks, and now they're normal again :T
Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
Totally forgot to ask my question! Mum is planning to make us some bedding for the cot, am I right to think we want a quilt & pillow, maybe a bumper if there's enough material? I'm not really sure what baby's use, and in all fairness it's more for show than use since he'll be in sleeping bags for the first year anyway!Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0

morning all! was quiet here yesterday - hope you are all doing OK. 39 weeks for me today :D
my day of relaxing didn't turn out too relaxing so am going to make a concerted effort today to relax otherwise dread to think what the day care assessment will be like tomorrow.
failed on the nursing bra front big time - the young girl in mothercare had to look at charts to work things out which didn't instill much confidence, she measured me as a 40B which considering I started at a 36C seems daft! I have been wearing 38D as thats what I was measured at at about 12 weeks but they definitely don't fit properly anymore as the back rides up and the cups are baggy so I tried on loads of styles from 36 through to 40 B-D and no joy. Perhaps I'll just go au naturel and let my boobs gravitate to my knees?! Am thinking of trying the big mothercare on Purley Way at the weekend to see if they are any better, can't think of where else to try.
lunch out was fun and then went into the City to catch up with friends for the last time before little one gets here which was lovely, even if they were all drinking! Got in at 10pm, checked my bp, recoiled in shock and went to bed. where I still am! with a headache and total apathy to getting up even though I know the rubbish immersion heater is going to give me a cold shower if I don't get up soon!0 -
Hi,
haven't posted for ages as been too busy - but have now just been told I can't go back to work until the end of my maternity leave and am suprised to find I am actually really upset. I'm only 27 weeks pregnant, and was expecting to work until 38 weeks. This is my second child and I had SPD mildly with the first one, but I've been really really struggling the last few weeks with the pretty much constant pain when walking (or doing anything apart from lying flat on my back or side). Then Tuesday I was at work, our H&S manager came and said he wanted me to go to my MW as I didn't look well - she booted me up to the hospital for monitoring as my blood pressure was through the roof. Blood pressure is back to where it should be, but my work are now strongly hinting that they don't think I should be there anymore. So I have to see my GP tomorrow and if he agrees I will be signed off sick until the start of my mat leave.
Did anyone else get upset at leaving work? I love my job, but there is no denying that it is stressful and, at times, physical - which with SPD is just a no go - OH has been trying to get me to relax for a few weeks now and stay at home, but I just felt I couldn't let work down. But now I think I am really going to miss it as well! I get full sick pay for 26 weeks, so no financial issues, I know I am lucky in this, and DD1 is going to stay in childcare so I can properly relax for 3.5 days per week.
I feel like such a selfish moo for being upset about this, despite it being best for me and baby. I know other people are in a far worse situation, not being able to work and NOT being paid, but I really had my heart set on sailing happily through pregnancy (like last time), it just hasn't happened this time.
I think the hormones are not helping, but I feel unable to relax properly at the moment, which is the whole point of not working!

sounds about right - obviously you know you can't use quilt for the first year so don't know what else to add. I'd never thought of making quilt cover etc, might have a go - where did your mum get the measurements from for quilt and pillowcase - we have a cot bed? Ikea have some really cheap fabric http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90119410, OK so it's not full fabric width but I reckon would do a quilt cover and pillowcase for 6 quid.0 -
We have the red hippo material on the right of that pic Always
