  • Hi everyone,
I'm really not impressed with my medical centre. A colleage shares the same doctor's as me, and she received a letter about the swine flu jab on Saturday (she's on the list due to her asthma). I haven't received anything, so I rang them yesterday and asked when they were likely to be available for pregnant women. They told me they were sending out letters at the moment and I'd get one 'any time now'. She then asked me if I wanted to book a time for their clincic this Saturday - and I said that I don't think I can manage this Saturday and she told me that that's my only opportunity!!! I haven't even received my letter yet!
My husband was really angry when I told him and he thinks I should make a rreal fuss about it - do you think I'm being unreasonable to be annoyed? When I organise events I try and give people at least 3 weeks notice so that they can get organised, at this rate I won't even get 3 days (official) notice....
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)

Morning all. Just thought I'd update you all on what's happening with me and my bump.

Been to see the midwife this morning (I'm 31 + 4 today). She took bloods last time I went two weeks ago so I was expecting the results today but there was a note on my records saying the samples had been lost - great. So I now have another hole in my arm and a developing bruise. She also took extra blood as I have had glucose in my last three samples so she is also checking for that.

I had my anti-D injection when I went 2 weeks ago and she told me that I only needed the one shot but this morning she told me that I would need another at my next appointment at 34 weeks - wish she'd make her mind up!!

I did forget to ask about the RLT that has been mentioned a lot on here such as when to take it and if it is as effective as people say.

Our spare room is slowly developing into a nursery. We have painted it over the weekend and cleared out some of the carp that was in therealthough there is still a lot of stuff left to sort. My DH should be bringing the cot home tonight that has been generously gifted to us by one of his workmates that had twins about 18 months ago and no longer wants the cot so need to get a new mattress for that sometime soon.

We have a pram/pushchair, car seat, nappies, vests, sleepsuits, moses basket and stand all currently at my Mum's plus lots of lovely things she's knitted. She also found out my baby blankets from 31 years ago!!

Think that's all for now - must start thinking about sorting my hospital bag. We have another scan next Tuesday (our 6th scan I think - my first two were at 6 weeks and 8 weeks due to previous m/c's) so hopefully the hospital might have my test results back by then from today.

    Good [STRIKE]morning!![/STRIKE] Afternoon.. :o

    I woke up at 11am :D

    How is everyone today?

Baby was really moving loads last night, but luckily for me, being pregnant has made me the deepest sleeper ever, so i sleep through her constant flips and kicks lol.

Argh, im really annoyed! Our lettings agents sent us a letter saying that the landlord has requested we remove the rubbish from our property, and to put it outside on wednesday. Do they not think i know that! The reason its there at the moment is cause the bin men didn't take it last wednesday!!
We have to go down anyway, cause now its raining we've discovered two leaks in the house from the roof and also the nursery only has one plug socket in, which is so small it doesn't let you plug any plugs into it, it wont fit! lol.
Wow, did that make sense? I keep reading it back and im not sure :p:rotfl:

aww brednall, sorry you had to get poked so many times! No need to ask MW about RLT...there's tons and tons of info about it on the internet. It was also mentioned in my antenatal classes as well.

redstar - that's rubbish! just ask if there's another clinic you can go to as you have a right to be offered the jab with reasonable notice.

Well my MW finally got back to me re: the cancelled appt...now it's not 'til next Wednesday (at 36+4)! :( Wish it could be sooner, as am dying to know how baby is laying/engaged/etc. Oh well!

EA - it's weird, I'm not sleeping well but it's never the baby moving that wakes me up (I can sleep straight through that!) but rather just my own body being uncomfy. I can even fall asleep if baby is kicking away, but if my hip hurts there's no hope!

I cant belive your almost 40wks! I remember you getting a bfp when i joined the ttc thread! lol.

Im not having the jab, OH's nan assumed i was having it and seemed really shocked when i said im not, i had to explain my reasoning for it to her, yet all through the meal she kept telling me she was having a jab as it was better to be protected and it wont hurt, and she'll contact me when she's had it done so i know what it feels like

I imagine when i get further along in the pregnancy i wont be able to sleep well, its starting to hurt when i sleep on my back now, i fall asleep on my left side then roll over in my sleep and wake up in pain :(

maybebaby - I saved some of the info on calcium from the last time it was discussed:

    here's weezl's original post: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=19307415&postcount=2587

So I was planning on doing about 2 tablets a day from about week 38, then doing the mega doses of around 4 tablets on onset of labor, to be topped up every 2-3 hours.

eta: there's quite a lot of conflicting info out there about whether to get calicum with magnesium. Some links say magnesium is good for labour, but other ones say that it causes the cervix to close & is actually used to stop pre-term labour. SugarSpun's doctor told her that magnesium stops labour, so it's quite confusing. I chose to get my calcium without magnesium, but it's really up to you to make your own decisions.

Thanks for this - it is exactly what I was looking for, you are much more organised than me, I read something on here and think 'oh interesting' then never find it again when I need it!!!

    Thanks
    Bump due 30th December 2009 :j
  • I did this and had a 7 hour labour on gas and air only.

This was the info Glamazon gave me.
Another reason for an adequate calcium intake and for keeping calcium tablets in the medicine chest at all times is that this mineral is a pain killer par excellence. Old medical textbooks give as the treatment for the sharp stabbing pains of pleurisy-than which there are few worse-injections of calcium. Why calcium has not been used more widely in alleviating other pain remains a mystery. One physician tells me that he uses no opiates but injects one to four grams of calcium gluconate into the veins of patients suffering even excruciating pain and that relief occurs almost immediately. Although the severely ill person or one enduring a blinding headache usually cannot absorb enough calcium taken by mouth to relieve pain, a less ill person can. The migraine sufferer, for example, can be helped most by taking calcium between headaches. For years I have told people to take calcium tablets before visiting a dentist; the mineral not only helps them relax and feel less pain but makes life easier for the dentist. It has been my experience that adequate calcium usually relieves the itching of hives in a half-hour and the pain of arthritis within one to three days. Since the publication of my book on baby feeding, I have been amazed at the number of young mothers who have written or told me personally that they had experienced no pain during delivery. Invariably they have written or said, “I thought I was having gas pains when the baby was born.” Now I tell women to grab a vitamin-D capsule as soon as labor starts and to take two or three calcium tablets every hour until they are wheeled into the delivery room. Regardless of the cause of pain, calcium can usually do something to relieve it; if no relief comes, blame it on poor absorption.

    I bought mine from H&B

I also took Arnica tablets after the birth and healed within 3 weeks. I only had a couple of internal stitches, no tearing and bleeding stopped after 3 weeks.

    Hope this helps.

Don't come on here very often so if you want to ask anything else, please PM me.

    Bearx

Also thank you Bear - 7 hour labour on gas and air is exactly what I am looking for!!! :T

I bought a yoga DVD ages back but have only managed to do half of it once! :o Plan on being more regular once ML starts.

I know that Som goes to yoga pretty frequently and other ladies have done/do aquanatal.
