Haha, I'd love a homebirth, but OH really isn't keen (his family have gone on about the dangers of me having this tumour and giving birth so much I think it's scared him, though not once have any dangers been mentioned by my Drs!). I really really want a waterbirth, but it's only available at one local hospital, the one that I'm not currently allowed to go to, because my specialist isn't there! If the only way I can get a waterbirth is at home, then I might just ignore OH's wishes totally
I'm all for the idea of a peaceful birth and maybe naively, think that it can only as painful as you allow it to be, so if I'm in a calm, peaceful environment without monitors, other screaming women and Drs everywhere, I think it would be much easier and conducive to a peaceful birth? Quite probably I'm being idealistic and a bit stupid :rotfl:
Just show him this to help sway your arguement of a home birth

Each to their own & all that but seriously, has she really called her kids Peppermint, Echo, Rogue, Frodo, Morpheus, Artemis, Blackbird, Baudelaire & Voorhees?? £4200 a month in benefits is pretty insane too, way more than the average person earns! & she houses them all in a 3 bed house, she must be mental!
Isnt housing 14 kids in 2 bedrooms illegalI wouldnt house 14 cats in 2 bedroomss let alone children:eek::eek:
I am so sorry you had a nasty mw today. When their bad i call them midwitches:rotfl:
Mr AB you should have heard some of the stories i have on this thread about incompetence / errors / lack of sensitivity some (not all) midwifes have put us through the receptions of docs / hospitals would be overflowing with letters of complaint.
I was bleeding for my booking appointment and wondering if i was going to lose halfpint and rather than quickly booking me in and helping with the bleeding and emergency care she gave me a 20 min lec on breastfeeding. A couple of weeks ago i got to hospital reception and was asked if i had been given an appointment for a c/section:eek::eek::eek: First i had heard of it:mad: they had put one of my "name stickers" on someone elses notes :eek:- small error but very upsetting at the time. Dont get me wrong - midwifes are excellent professionals who are in the majority amazing - just sometimes they mess up like anyone else and upset us preggy ladies. Something to bear in mind when Mrs AB has her appointmetns / scans;) If you feel there has been a very distressing error - you can complain to the senior midwife at the hosp or to the practice manager at the doc. But heres hoping you wont need to0 -
OH's home now & I've ranted away and he's actually conceded that if I can get the all clear from the consultant to have a home birth, then he's happy to go ahead. I've been on at him since the word go about having a home birth and he's never agreed, can't believe he's even considering it! Now, to try and speak to my consultant
Whilst recounting to OH how awful midwife was something else she did sprung to mind, conversation went like this:
"So, you feel movement?"
"Yes. Only over the weekend we had a quiet 24 hours when he didn't move and we weren't sure what to do"
"Yes, weather has been bad hasn't it this weekend, meant to get worse by this weekend too"
She was so bad I actually had to laugh at this point!
Hi Jha :hello: Hope halfpint has let you have a relaxing day after night time antics?Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
[QUOTE=gymfiend;27161769Hoping_he'll_be_in_a_good_mood_so_I_can_broach_home_birth_with_him![/QUOTE]
Would you consider what my auntie (who is a retired midwife) calls domino care? Where you labour at home untill you are 3 or 4 cm and then go in to hosp so you are in hosp for minimal ammount of time - you come out within hours of birth (pending pead checks) . Might be something to consider if your oh is really concerned about hb? Its what i am doing and i am consultant lednot sure if it is ok to do this - maybe someone will come along in a min and correct me if i am wrong?
Halfpint has been asleep all day - so i can predict what is going to happen tonight - lol0 -
Ooh are you thinking of home birth then? I was considering... but then thought about how much there would be to clean up after? Surely you'd have to get stuff in specifically for it so you didn't wreck the bed etc? Also wouldn't trust my dog lol she'd be straight in there "mmm afterbirth for dindins" dirty lil b
Before i knew i had to go into hosp i was planning a hb - but the stuff i baught will be useful anyway as i have a squemish oh. I got several asda smarprice shower curtains (reccomended on here as very :money:), a couple of washing up bowls and some old towels / bedding. I have put the shower curtains on the bed already and they are not uncomfortable to sleep on and one down the side of the divan bed. I also have a bowl, towel, shower curtain and bin liner for the car as it is my dads not ours and i dont want any mess in it. But from what i have heard its not that messy anyway and the midwives help with the clean up.:D
Well as predicted the sun has gone down and halfpint has started partying:wave: to pp and thinking of you three. Will catch up tomorrow
