I don't think it's weird JHA, if you feel there's only one person suitable at present, then makes sense that you should only 'nominate' that one person, rather than picking someone you wouldn't be totally happy with, iykwim?

Funnily enough, christening/godparents are a bit of a bone of contention in our house. I won't christen because I'm not religious, OH isn't either but still thinks we ought to christen because it's the done thing. Hoping the conversation will just tail off and people will stop asking so OH can stop being irritated by the fact I won't discuss the matter!

Well done on the decorating EA :D Please be careful though!

Glad the scan went well MrsI :) Did the snowsuit arrive ok?x

Thanks for the ideas on things to ask at the midwife :D Written them all down & will have another think tonight.

Had a lovely day today, picked carpet and hopefully will have it fitted by the weekend, went for lunch & a walk with my friend which was nice & now sat with a cup of tea reading magazines waiting for the X Factor :D Baby is quiet again, wonder if he's having a growth spurt or something that's making him quiet?
    Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j

Yeah I'm really unsure on the godparents front. I always godparents were supposed to be more like the nomiated "guardian" of the child if the parents died, but here it seems more like just a thing you do to honor people??? Correct me if I'm wrong here. But I'm really struggling to think of anyone who we could nominate, except for my sister and TBH no one on DH's side instills confidence in me - but I'm afraid if I say that to him he'll get offended that I don't "like" his family. I don't know, it's just too complicated, argh. I don't honestly see the point of godparents, TBH, as I don't have any...

Yeah i had this with my ex. I'm not religious and neither is he, i wasn't christened, he was. Him and his family see it as the done thing, for a p!ss up and pressies, but i'd rather not be so hypocritical but maybe that's because i'm not from a large 'traditional' family with aunts/auncles/cousins etc etc.

Anyway i don't suppose i have to worry about that debate anymore seeing he couldn't care less!

Didn't get much wallpapering done, i put up 4 strips and then we had roast pork dinner :D

Went to the Xmas lights thing which was good. They had a big ferris wheel and my sis was saying i can't go on it, but i didn't see why not so rang my mam to google it and she said it's fine :rotfl: My sister was amazed i didn't go into labour but then she is scared of heights lol!!

As someone who IS religious, I get really annoyed at people who DO christen their children without the faith to back it up. It's supposed to be a meaningful thing, not an excuse for pretty dresses and presents. Do it if it's something you believe in, not just because our culture says it's fun.

Just my opinion...not intended to offend anyone, but just to give a different perspective.

Choosing godparents is hard, we chose people for our ds who we thought would be the best person/people to not only to be his guardian if we were to die but also to teach him things and be there for him in his everyday to day life. But i do know people choose people out of ''duty''
Sadly no one can know the future and my brother split up from his fiance some years later and now she has nothing to do with my ds. But at the time they were the correct choice. We would never have asked dh's brother and his now wife out of duty as they live far away and we hardly see them. My brother now has a new fiance and are getting married next year they will be the godparents again to this one. My brother is very close to our ds and i couldn't choose anyone else.

Kindof - good work on the building, careful with those blisters have given my self those at work building furniture before and there not nice (they annoy for days after too).

jha - the whole gaurdian thing is a mine field! neither me nor OH are christened so dont have god parents, but I like the idea of having a legal nominated gaurdian just incase something should happen. Might talk to my mum about it, she's the voice of reason when it comes to these things and totally un biased.

EA - how easily pleased are we with our sausage rolls hehe. Oh and glad to hear you didnt come to any harm after the chair incident, but please take it easy now.

redmel - hope you enjoy your roast OH is currently cooking ours tho we've run out of yorkshire puds :( the home made crumble sounds delish.

Well ironing done thank goodness so can chilax now for rest of evening, top gear is on too yeay :D
