Oooh I wonder if my Matalan has any Maternity in? I am struggling with leggings/trousers, last time round I got a few pairs of black leggings from Peacocks and they were fantastic, so comfortable....well roll on a year and I went a bought a few pairs, but they have changed the style of them and they are absolutely awful...the crotch is too long so rubs my legs, there is an excess of material at the back (!!!!!!) and they don't come over bump fully so keep falling down, they are terrible!!!!! Why did they feel the need to change the design when they were brilliant in the first place....

I have ended up just chucking them in the bin leaving me with one pair of cropped WHITE linen trs and a pair of (normal) joggers!

Right best get dressed and go out and check the car is clean for selling today, if he turns up!

Redmel - my peacocks has 2 different types of mat leggings. One lot come in sizes ie 12, 14, 16 and I loved them at first but once my bump got bigger they couldnt cope and all ripped at the crotch! I even bought a size 18 and they did too....just isnt enough fabric there!

They do another style which come in double sizes ie 12 - 14, 16 - 18. These have been better for me as I've got bigger, and I've found them really comfy, but could poss be the style that's a bit baggy for you? They don't rip thank god as I was getting a complex lol

I slept really well until the early hours. Woke at 5 with pains under my bump, had to do my relaxation exercises that we learnt at parentcraft to cope lol. Then I woke up at 7.30 with really bad cramp in my leg. I was struggling to get out of bed quickly enough and DH woke up and said "I've got no covers on!" coz I'd pulled them all off lol. He was sympathetic when he realised but went straight back to sleep grrr. Lower back was killing me so gave it up as bad job and got up. Still really painful so going to get a bath to see if that helps.

Got the reception part of the wedding today so need to be in good nick!

I'm worrying a bit coz as I left my friend told me they were having a greeting line. I thought she was just telling me but I dont know if she wants me in it! I was matron of honour but didnt have a dress to match bridesmaid or colour scheme and didnt walk down aisle with her, just signed the register and helped out as much as I could with preparation and getting ready. She said it was smart casual today, altho she and the BM are putting their dresses on so I'm just going in jeans (felt and looked like a horrible fat blimp in my dress and had to wear a small heel which I can't cope with today!) so I won't look formal in the greeting line not up to standing for that long. I've text her but it's prob a bit early for a new bride to be up and about!

    Morning all,

Gill - I didn't notice the typo either till Mel pointed it out. :o But Gill your bum isn't bad at all lol

RE Rasp tea- I got to like it with blackcurrant juice in, it's also good for afterbirth pains which with 4 of my children I suffered terribly with No5 I swear the tea helped them. Good for period pains too.

I wouldnt recommend the EPO though - too messy and Im not sure they actually do anything. My cervix was so hard I had to have it ripped in one of my many sweeps. So ,for me, they didnt help.

Right better get on, stuff to do etc

Ahhhhh, do one type have a bump band style top, that can be folded over and has a seam as if it is attached and the other just like an all in one, normal legging, just extra stretchy at the top?

  • Hello everyone
Haven't been on for a while and haven't caught up on all posts but hope everyone is well.
I had a horrible day yesterday. Went to the loo and I was bleeding (brown and thick) so eventually managed to get through to hospital who told me to come in. They couldn't find fhb so went to get another machine, and STILL couldn't find it. Then I was transferred down to a delivery suite so they could scan me. Eventually, they managed to find my baby but it was lying quite still :( It did do a little leg kick and the heart was beating, the mw said it looks "fine" but I would have been happier if it was moving about. I haven't felt anything yet and am 16+1 so am hoping it will be soon!
I'm also rh- so they took about another 4 vials of blood and gave me the Anti D (which really flipping hurts!) and we went home 5 hours later. The doctor examined me and couldn't see anything obvious to explain the bleed so I'm no better off really.
I feel very upset. I didn't get much reassurance and it seems all I can do now is rest and wait to see my own mw on Wednesday :(:(
Do you think we'll be OK? I hear that bleeding does happen and doesn't always mean a problem ...?

They both have the bump bands - I haven't seen any extra stretchy ones in Peacocks so looks at tho they may have just totally changed them.

Budget Blond - *hugs* that sounds awful for you. Must have been very traumatic. I think it's a very good sign that the blood is brown as it means it is old blood, but you should definitely talk to your own midwife on Weds and go straight back to hospital if you get any more.

I didn't feel any movements until around 20 weeks so don't worry about that. Even then they were very light and I have a superactive baby now.

Yeah I have been adding apple and blackcurrant squash to mine as I find they are so bland but give major heatrburn at the same time. Also I have got a major thirst for 'normal' tea too so that usually wins out to RLT hehe. I haven't had one today so had prob better have one now *sulk*.

I've been taking a pg vitamin which includes iron (from asda) as I have always been anaemic when pg and it seems to have kept my iron levels up but I only have 9 left and 19 days to EDD so I'd better get some more just for the 10 days???? As it's important not to be anaemic for the birth surely??? Is this right.

    Hey hun.

Is it the one with a yellow label? They were 2 for £4 or something?
If so I've got excess LOL and more than happy to send you a bottle with some in just to tide you over....

budget.. it is quite normal not to feel movements until later with first babies.. and apparently larger ladies feel it later too and it does depend how the baby is laid and where the placenta is.. lots of variables!!. BUT.. they DID find the Hb.. mine for the most part didn't move much on scans.. this one was like a flea for the 12 week one but did a bit of hand sucking and tongue sticking out for the 20 week one and just refused to move at all.

Fine means the baby looks well, is the correct size and has a visible beating heart .. also they couldn't see a source for the bleed which also is good as it means you have stopped bleeding.. thick brown blood could have been there for weeks and just come away now as the baby being bigger and moving about more dislodged it.

Budget what an awfull thing to be going through. If the scan shows that bean is ok then im sure it is. As for the bleeding yes it can happen has happened to me with last pregnancy thank fully non this time. Apparently old brown blood loss can be quite common its if its fresh bright red blood that they say you should be concerned over especially if there is any pain. As for the movements if you were moving about quite a bit baby was probably asleep i'm 20 wks now and have only just started feeling the movements properly when i went for my scan on friday babs was kicking away like no ones business but i couldnt feel a thing its really strange for me as i normally feel movement very early on and it just gets stronger where as this time i have felt barely anything. Babies do have a lovely knack of being able to hide as well when they are being poked and prodded for the purpose of finding a heart beat. Fingers crossed it was just a one off and everything will run smoothly for you now :-) xx
