  • Morning ladies,
i've been moping about since Sunday cos DH didnt get me choccies or even a card for mother's day but with hearing whats going on with some of the other halfs i've decided to forgive him and get over it - might buy some chocolates myself today! lol

When I was pg with my first 9 years ago, dh smoked hash, drank, stayed out till 4/5am at the weekends and i generally did everything myself for the first couple of years, however, at that point, i was determined to show everyone that i could do it, that i loved him and that we would be together (my parents/family etc were all dead against the marriage to the point where my mother didn't even come to the wedding!)
When my ds was 3, he became ill and was close to death which almost destroyed my dh. He immediately stopped smoking/drinking/staying out etc. He grew up, he took on responsibilities, we had our dd and now due number 3. We'll be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary at the end of April - there were many who didn't think we'd get past the first!
Men can change, it can sometimes take something drastic for that to happen, but as someone said, they dont get it - the whole pg thing, sickness, tiredness, and all the stuff that goes with - when they realise that they now have this tiny helpless baby so stand by and look after, maybe thats all they need.

hope everyone has a better day today
    take care

    Morning ladies,

Sorry to all those with OH troubles :( Men are a strange breed!!

Hope Kindof's disappearance means that baby Elliot is here :D Can't wait to hear :)

Enjoy Ikea Saz - the meatballs are yum :)

Good news on the test Sir Monster x

Wow DP the lady you know who has everything but a pram at 16 weeks - what will she do when she goes on maternity?! It's prime shopping time!

Nicky I know an elective mightn't be what you want, but try to think of it as the best route for baby. I'm gutted at the thought of being induced and the chances of needing intervention, actually had a cry about it yesterday, but I guess that's just life and the end result will make it all worthwhile. Not sure if it will make you feel any better but my mum had an emerg section with her first then electives with us other two, she said she'd have one every time, was up and about within a few days & generally really pleased with birth 2 & 3 compared with 1 :)

Midwife this aft here and I have a new concern, if I'm stuck in hospital for a few days, will they give me a choice of food? I'm a bit anal when it comes to meat, there are only certain things I will eat, will they give me a vege option? (I know, stupid thing to be worried about but hey, I've a lot of time on my hands!!) :)
    Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j

Gym- I know I'm now a longtime gone from the pg thread, but if I don't know if you remember when I had Henry. I went two weeks over, was induced, I contracted but didn't dilate for 2 days so I ended up with an EMCS. I had planned a water birth, definitely didn't want to be on my back etc but it actually ended up about as far as possible from my birth plan. I had mec in my waters so had to be on a bed, being monitored, then had the oxytocin drip and an epidural. It so wasn't what I had planned, but it was Henry's birth so is still very special to me and I am very proud of myself for getting through it. I have no guilt and no regret over how it went, because ultimately Henry and I came out of it healthy and happy. My recovery from my section was quicker than a lot of people I know how had vaginal births, and I was just determined to get better so I could look after my little boy. I only stayed in hospital for two nights after I had him.

I'm not for a second saying that you are likely to end up with a c-section as I know a lot of people who have been induced then gone on to have quick births, totally to their birth plans in water or actively birthing, but I just wanted to show that it's not all doom and gloom if it doesn't go to plan!

Also I am a veggie, and a very fussy eater. I was provided with veggie meals in hospital and they were okay, but about four hours after H was born I was on the phone to my Mum begging her to bring in some fresh fruit for me as their didn't seem to be anything available that hadn't been microwaved!

Grrr i hate not having a car its doing my nut and this flaming scrapage scheme isnt helping gone are the days when you could pick up something for a couple of hundred quid to get you through. I either have to wait probably about 8 wks to get the car we had planned to (mpv about £4000) or pay £800 + now for a run around to cover those 8wks which seems stupid as i will never get the money back. Even on ebay they are asking £400-£500 for spare and repair cars are they taking the P or what ??

should I be ashamed, I'm at 16 weeks and my pram just arrived, but i did get it off ebay for £100 and it's a silver cross 3d in a beigey type colour. I looked at others but i just kept going back to that one, otherwise i would've waited.

Yesterday I also got a moses basket with a rocking stand for £10, we weren't going to bother with one but for £10 who can grumble.

    Oooh congrats som :D

And Yay for being 2cm Kindof!! :D:D:D

Love all the bump pics, my bump is now a wobbly ... umm, i cant think of another word to describe it :rotfl:
But its shrunk back down a fair bit, so :j

Had Lily weighed y'day, she's lost weight :(
She is now 8lbs 15.5ozs. Which is normal they said, but give me another appointment for tomorrow so i can see she's putting on weight :)

We're doing mixed feeding now, my breast milk never seemed to be filling her up at night time. She was feeding every 20 mins!
So we have Aptamil for night times and BF'ing for day time :)

I just had a flake, and i kept drpping bits on her, hehe. She doesn't mind though, she loves her mummy :p

Aww EA you sound so happy :D Bless her, and good for you keeping up with the bfing in the daytime, I can only imagine how easy it would be to drop it totally when you're having a hard time, x

Thanks so much for that GISI, I know I still have a few days left for him to arrive of his own accord & I'm prob moaning about nothing at the moment but it's always lovely to hear a positive story :) I'm fairly accepting of the fact I won't get what I want at the moment but hey, c'est la vie and all that so long as my boy arrives healthy I won't complain (or at least I'll try not to!!) :D

Bunny it sounds like you've got some bargains there :D I wouldn't worry, so long as you're comfortable with buying that's all that matters. We had a moses basket given at like 12 weeks, followed by tonnes of other stuff, ended up buying his cot at about 28 weeks and his pushchair a bit before though can't remember when, cos it was on sale :p I still feel a bit weird having it all and I'm 8 days overdue!!

I've just been out to swap my DVD player, dad bought it for me last week and it was broke :( & been to the supermarket and filled up the car, now I'm trying to psych myself up for having the midwife checking out my bits :p:eek:

eta: There are some cute baby bits in the M&S sale for anyone looking - sleeping bags for £7 too, bargain :D

  • Hi, :wave:Can I join you all? I am 29 weeks preggers. :D Sorry I have left it late in my pregnancy to join in but I said hi last year and then had a missed miscarriage at 13 weeks. I feel it is now safe to join and I am getting fatter my the day and could do with somewhere to talk about it all. I am finding that I get bump ache doing housework etc and I don't think I got it this early with ds. I get loads of braxton hicks and did with my 1st pregnancy but it really worries my dh.
I am due 1st June but had my ds at 37 weeks so half expecting this baby in the middle of May lol!
