Been to hosp, contrcgtions were resally painful and strong, but I am only 2cms :( so sent home, told to go back when they are stronger, they !!!!ing kill I must be a wuss, I am so tired as well but cant sleep, well I can but then a contraction wakes me up

Hello all - OH here - Feeling pretty useless at the moment, all I can do to help is rub rach's back a bit, which she says is helping but it doesn't feel like I'm doing much. Nothing I've read in literature or the internet so far has prepared me for the sheer frustration of 'this part' of the pregnancy. Also I'm angry at the hospital midwives for actually saying 'how long's a piece of string' (which is double the length from one side to the middle btw...) which didn't bloody help at all. Grr.

How nice of you OH to post , nothing you can do really (sorry) always remember my OH saying after my 27 hour labour with DS "never again,I can't go through that again :rotfl:" ermm you can't ??? he is sooo not looking forward to this birth too ,he say's its the seeing me in pain he just can't handle .

The only thing that ever helped me was warm baths ,I can totally sympathise about midwives but it's so hard to estimate xx

I learnt to crochet when I fell pregnant. My mum showed me the basics and then I have used tutorial videos on youtube to learn some more. But it's very simple and I think you could pick it up through the vids on there no problem. So far I have made 3 blankets. My mum is crocheting some outfits for me and I have my nan who has knitted a couple of cardigans for me too. :)

Thanks for that, I did think to try Youtube, my mum can sew, but cannot knit. MIL can sew and knit but I am not too keen on her teaching me as sometimes we can clash, as no matter how hard I try she always thinks I am not good enough for her precious son! And I think if I were to ask her to teach me, it would remind her how useless I am domestically!!! But I am impressed she's making stuff for the baby!! I am interested in trying patchwork to make a blanket/ quilt but I think that might be a lot of sewing!!! Well done on the 3 blankets!

Kindof, I really feel for you having to feel so frustrated, I think its lovely your OH is there supporting you *MASSIVE labour vibes* hope your baby arrives soon!

  • My crochet blanket is straight off of youtube! There are some excellent tutorials on there one particular lady has step by step videos and is really good at explaining - Bethintx1 is her name i think you can prob search by that.

Kindof - yeah for the 2cm! pants about getting sent home tho.
Kindof OH - well done for the back rubbing, not much else you can do but i'm sure she'll appreciate that.
All the best for the rest of labour!

  • Aww Kindof Yay for dilating, to you and OH - get doing lots of walking now, whilst walking make your steps very heavy if you can. Also up and down steps if you can. Try and resist another bath at the moment until things get a lot worse as this could calm things down. Bounce on your ball gently also stand with your legs open at shoulder width and do some hip rotations (like slow gentle) hula hooping. Also if it is comfy enough try sitting in a squatted position (your OH can help hold you up a little to take any weight off your knees)

Most of all try to relax as much as poss, take your calcium and arnica if you had planned to and best of luck for a smooth labour!

Wow I think my bump is about the same size as the 30 + weeks ones, and I'm only 27!!! Although I measured my baby (19 yo) bro's beer belly yesterday and was quite impressed to see it's only an inch smaller than my pregnant one lol

Have got a load of dd's stuff out of parent's attic so feeling a lot more ready for baby :)
