I guess what I am trying to say in a very long winded way, is you prob don't need to buy much as you get a couple of tiny testers in your bounty bag etc, and then see what you end up using most iyswim.
ETA: I do live in a hard water area though so maybe that makes a difference, not sure. I know when I lived in Devon my hair which is normally dry as a bone, became almost greasy, and my skin never seemed to feel really clean.
I'm in a really hard water area as well.. you can practically pick the bits of lime from the water!
Cradle cap is a form of seborrhoeic dermatitis.. the sebaceous glands in the scalp are overstimulated by the mothers hormones and create loads of grease which dries and cakes on the scalp.. it isn't caused by poor hygiene.. but the fact it stays there is.. it simply is that the grease isn't washed away!
One of my HV's recommended (the only half sensible one I ever had).. proper adult shampoo for shifting it.. not on one of my brood I might add!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Oh I see, I never knew that. I'm glad DD never had it, the scaly lizard skin she had on her hands and feet from being overcooked was bad enough!0 -
mine were all early so got scaly limbs because they needed the vernix to soak in still.. they were well oiled in olive oil most days!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Hey all,
Well I'm at home and chilling on the sofa. Still getting the occasional BH/sqeeze but they are few and far between now. OH and I wandered to mr t and back and then to the local chippy earlier but it seems to have had the opposite effect and stopped them.
I going to let my dinner settle and then try another RLT. I think I can have up to 3 a day at 37 weeks?

i used to gently massage bubs head with his baby brush after his bath when the cradle cap is soft and it would just come away then you can brush it out of their hair if they have any of course.
Apparently massaging olive oil into can help move it if it is really stubborn but then you would need to wash their hair other wise they would be very greasy indeed.
Once he was a few weeks older i added small amounts of baby bath to his water to keep him clean. I never really had a problem with people making him greasy as he pretty much slept all the time for the first few weeks so people just left him be instead of disturbing him they were happy to coo from a distance.
With the baby powder i used to put it on after drying him down you can then see if they are still wet anywhere and wipe again it does make it easier to get them dry and although i use it im not an advocate of plastering them init and they always get another towel down after it has been applied :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
