Just checked my recorded Bp against what has been quoted above and mine seems really low in comparison but then my blood pressure has never been very high so its normal for me ive only had two readings done so far and they are 105/55 and 110/55. If i remember correctly the highest the first number ever got to was 120 in my last pregnancy and the latter number about 65.

EA - Huge congrats, Lily is gorgeous. Sooooo broody now :) Just off to read your birth story now.

Redstar - fab news about the baby's being larger than average :) At least with a c section that's not something to worry about lol

Can anyone tell me what toiletries I'm likely to need for baby when he first comes with regards to bathing/washing him with top and tail bowl?

Gill you wont need alot at all maybe a small bottle of baby bath for his first one to get the sticky stuff off after birth and baby shampoo after that plain water will do as they dont really get dirty (you get a small bottle of baby shampoo in your bounty bag). I always use baby powder after a bath to dry the creases in their skin out :-)

    What she said! :D

Also cotton wool if your using it, you end up going through ton's of the stuff! If baby is late or peely then a bit of olive oil, but we always have that in the cupboard anyway so didn't need to get any in.
  • Just read EA's birth story :)

Kindof hope your baby is getting ready to make an appearance!

    Redstar great about scan :)

Maureen i would phone MW if it doesn't come further down than that? Hopefully with a bit of rest it will come down though :)

just had yummy sausage and mash for dinner.

I'm excited (and a bit nervous) cos I have my 20-week scan tomorrow! Woohoo! Think we'll be staying Team Yellow though...

While they don't get dirty they do get greasy.. causing cradle cap.. which is gross!

People are forever stroking babys face and hands and then they put their hands in their mouths.. I always add a squirt of baby bath to shift the greasy deposits..

shampoo I never bothered with, I just used baby bath for their heads too.

I never used baby powder either.. it just seemed to absorb the dampness form their skin and hold it there so they never dried and then they got sore in creases.

However, they were lucky if they got bathed once a week!

Pigpen- I didn't realise cradlecap is caused by grease, thats interesting.

I never used any products except water (and the olive oil cos she was so late and peely) on DD but I would bathe her every day in the kitchen sink :) Mainly because I have such sensitive annoying skin and I didn't want to irritate her's if she was like me. She is 21 months now and I still just use pureadore bubble bath (or the asda own eco bubbles) and a tiny bit of the asda eco shampoo (only £1 and I have only got half way through a bottle so far.)

Her skin has always been fine, no cradlecap or any kind of rash etc, except damn nappy rash when teething!!

I guess what I am trying to say in a very long winded way, is you prob don't need to buy much as you get a couple of tiny testers in your bounty bag etc, and then see what you end up using most iyswim.

ETA: I do live in a hard water area though so maybe that makes a difference, not sure. I know when I lived in Devon my hair which is normally dry as a bone, became almost greasy, and my skin never seemed to feel really clean.
