Hi all,
I am 17 weeks and have got loads off stuff from freecycle, but have bought a new buggy cause it was such a bargain, and a birth - toddler set of reusable nappies off ebay. I was so not supersticious and started collecting stuff of freecycle before we had conceived, just cause its easier to do in the school hols. OH was horrified!
I have some clothes, but does any one know how many vest and sleep suits I will I need for each age? If I wash colours and whites alternative days?
Thanks x
Ideally you 'only' need 2 sleepsuits/bodysuits a day.. one for day time one for night time.. so.. I'd not have any fewer than 12 of each.. esp if bf.. they don't poo they explode.. half a dozen times a day.. and they sick.. they are gross lol.. Day time outfits.. if you didn't buy any you'd have too many.. you have them bought esp. if a first baby as everyone assumes you haven't bought anything while pregnant.. but they are better than useless stupid stuffed things.
Newborn to about 3 months they are most comfy in a sleepsuit and vest and a cardy if it's cold. You'll need a stack of dribble cloths.. muslins are great.. but then so are tea towels and they have a use after baby has finished sicking on them. A jacket for outings.. they do get chilly laid in a pram doing nothing.
Bath towels.. baby ones with the stupid hood thing are a total waste of money.. get 2 bath sheets in a dark colour.. white ones go mangy.. and use those.. they then last forever and you can actually wrap a wet baby in them rather than just wrapping their legs!
You don't need a bath.. get a washing up bowl!
A lidded toy box is a great place to store nappies... from another cloth nappy user.
Beyond 3/4 months, I'd say 3-4 sleepsuits for bed and 3-4 daytime outfits.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I would say you can never have too many vests and bibs my daughter was a spewer I think the record was 12 changes in one day!!
Dont know the sex our hospital have signs up saying not to ask so we would need to pay to find out but to be honest my husband doesnt want to know and Im not bothered it would be good to be able to get a bit more organised but suppose itll be a mad dash for blue or pink once they are born!0 -
I would get enough of both for at least two changes a day over the course of a week. Also buy bibs bibs and more bibs ive lost count of how many i have but i still run out My little one is a dribbler and can soak a bib in minutes.
Hobo i would ask anyway they can only tell you no. Our old hospital used to have the signs up but they told me with the other two infact the one woman asked if i wanted to know and the new hospital doesnt have any signs and again they ask you :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
I know I think it just depends who you get and what mood they are in because I have heard of people asking and being told no and then people being asked if they want to know must depend if they like the look of you!
Random question but when you go into hospital if you are formula feeding do the hospital provide you with the bottles and stuff?0 -

You get little pre packed disposables.
I FF my identical twins from birth (2004) because my oldest was only 21 months and the hospital staff were fantastic about it.
If you have any twin birth etc questions feel free to PM meMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Does depend on the hospital. I was told at the very beginning of my pregnancy that my local hospital will not provide milk if you plan to FF. I'm planning to take the ready made up bottles of 12 you can buy in ASDA and Boots as they are ready to use.;)0 -

Any reccommendations on where to look for nursery furniture? Think we're going to want a wardrobe and chest of drawers, both in pine. Ikea have some that may be suitable but would like something to compare them with.
Lots of labour vibes for those who need to them (waaaay too many to list atm lol) but especially for nikkitMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0
