Sami - I just emailed Joey lady for advice following my now purple sling :mad:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -

Mel - I could probably throw them down the M56 or M62 (depending on where you are)Are you ready for this? It confuses me - if anyone can tell me whats best for us to do i'd be grateful!
OH leaves this job 8th Jan, and starts new job 11th Jan.
OH is also paying back a massive overpayment (they overpaid him for about two years - although he phoned to tell them several times!). So from the old job, he'll get paid a weeks pay at the end of Jan (plus any spare hols etc after overpayment is taken back).
He won't get paid from new job til 16th Feb (a full month).
Normally we both get paid end of the month, and all the bills go out 1st-6th. However at the end of Jan, i'll have my reduced hours months pay (for what its worth ) and he'll have a weeks pay!
Plus - if I stay at work so that at least one of us gets paid at the end of January - we'll be paying out for nursery for January - so thats pretty much my wages!
If I leave end of December (at christmas), I won't get any pay at the end of Jan - but also won't have any nursery to pay.
Another spanner in the works, is OH's first week (possibly two) on the new job will be residential, away Mon-Fri. Getting three children to schools and nursery and myself to work will be a nightmare on my own!
Plus - we need to decide sharpish - I need to give a months notice to nursery for when V will be leaving. (The nursery she has attended for two days up to now).
Our hope is to make Christmas as :money:as possible, then we'll have a bit of savings to fall back on for the end of January.
Now is everybody as confused as we are?Sorry you asked Mel?
Not at all:p
It seems to me that your best bet is to leave asap...if (as highlighted) most of your wage is going to go on nursery fees there is very little point. Of course you could always send your darling, beautiful daughter down the road to me to look after for free;)
I would just leave it that you get his weeks wage (plus some, hopefully) cancel ALL direct debits for Feb, you can EASILY catch up on water/gas/etc in March and Apr once his decent wages begin properly. We used to have to do this all the time when I was on funny changeable hours, as some months we just couldn't cover everything...they don't care as long as it gets paid up eventually.
At the end of the day it doesn't sound like you staying to work Jan (while paying childcare) is going to be very worthwhile!!!
Does that help at all:p:D

3, I realise this may be a stupid question, but will you get more tax credits when you're not working? Maybe factor in when you'll get more money from them?
It won't make a lot of difference - I think it was £2.73 difference. OH & my earnings now will be the same as OH's new wage without mine.
One difference is that when i'm not working, i'll be able to claim Carers allowance for DS. I've been unable to claim up to now because I earned to much :rotfl:. So although i'm down by £100 ish a week wages, £54 ish of that will be cancelled out by Carers allowance I can claim.
Hmm - i'm not sure if carers allowance is counted as income for tax credits?:beer:0 -
3, how much leave will you be owed if you leave in Dec/Jan?

Sami - My mum works 5 days, OH Mum works 4. A little CCTC I think.
Mel - Yes it helps thanks! Any ideas help - it makes OH & my heads hurt!
I've just thought - we don't pay any Council Tax or Water in February do we? Bonus!
ETA: Weezl Very little! Our holiday year runs from the month of your birthday. Mine's December so my new leave year starts tomorrow. 3 days possibly?:beer:0 -

Hi all!
Been trying to catch up on 24 hours of thread in the quiet bits of the last couple hours in between cooking and baby-juggling etc - and I've just about managed it in time for an early night, my life is so glamorous!
Lengthy miserable waking during last night, suspect teething as very drooly, in the end in desperation I slumped on the sofa in the (freezing) living room for 45 mins with Elijah draped across my chest, til he really actually finally settled and I could put him down! Then realllllly busy work today after 4 days off last week, didn't even have time to visit the forum  !
Mel, not to be a dampener but you don't sound positive to me at allI hope things are settling a bit and you can see a future in which things are not horrible and you are not too completely miserable about the way they are working out
it will probably not be all bad and you might have been quite stressed with uni during the later parts of pregnancy/early newborn times, and you may be counting your blessings when that time comes round?
Aww. sorry to hear about your lack of sleep and busy day...they are not a good combination are they. I used to feel that it was barely worth taking a holiday (when I was a manager) as I used to come back to a triple workload:rolleyes:
I can't believe you think I don't sound positive;)...I am actually trying so, so hard to disguise my misery. Ah well I suppoose someone had to see through it. You are right though I don't see much hope for the future and it is getting me down, but I am trying not to dwell on it, actually I am trying not to look into the future at all, just taking things day by day till we get through this current black hole we seem to be stuck in and can see some light. I also agree that I will be thankful and do you want to know the irony...all I have ever wanted, since having ds1 9yrs ago, is to be at home with my kids....to take them and collect them from school, to be there when they come home from a friends house, to attend school plays, and to always be there for them, like my mum was for me and my brothers and sisters.....all the material possessions in the world can't take that feeling away and that is all I want, and have ever wanted, for them....
