she could get 2.5 bottles of netto fake for that though, she'll never do it :)

Apparently the Aldi one is lush and only about £5 a bottle I think. Might have to get some as a Christmas treat.

ooh that's good. The pitch fee is the lapland appeal right?

Will it be outdoors? *good weather vibes*

hiya GISI, how you feeling? Got any arnica? I was still slathering my erm lady garden in sudocrem at this stage- I recommend it!

    Aw sami, nice snuggles :)

I had a c-section in the end, so lady garden is all intact! I do have arnica tablets though, and I think they have made a big difference to the internal bruising combined of course with the industrial strength pain relief.

Opinions please- is this too girly for my baby boy to be carried in http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=32875983&ref=sr_list_3&&ga_search_query=mei+tai&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=2&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title? I :heart2: it!

I know I sholdn't but after looking at the quite scrumptious Molly's pics on facebook and seeing how well she can do press ups on her tummy... I started searching for 'developmental milestones'. Amber can't lift her head up on her tummy at all. I know I shouldn't and I am aware that I am just looking for problems... but someone tell me quickly that I'm being silly and that Amber is fine and all babies develope at their own rate!

You're being silly, Amber is fine and all babies develop at their own rate. But I do the same thing - a friend's baby was born on the same day as Molly and can roll over. Molly's done that twice by accident but hasn't the faintest idea how to do it. And she isn't terribly interested in toys and hates the baby gym although other babies her age seem to love it

sorry GISI :)sami said you'd had a long labour and I have to confess I've been steering a little clear of birth stories at the mo unless I think they're going to be a '10 minutes and I barely felt a thing!' type story. Anything else has me having funny dreams :o.

Glad the arnica and painkillers are helping though! xxx

can I share one of the things I'm stressed about? DH's work have a slow payback time on staff expenses. DH often has to go away/travel to london via train buy books and materials out of our money and then be reimbursed. This month it is around £350.

My work's the same way - I'm on ML and can't yet claim for the trip I went on in May  It's only €80, but that's a lot when you're on ML pay.

Hugs, weezlie, but think of how much wonderful there will be when the PhD is done and your OH is Dr Weezlie :) I can't give you any advice cause there's not any - but if he knows in advance that there'll be a heavy-expenditure month, can you budget somewhere to cover it? Or make a cushion so it doesn't hit as hard when it happens?

The Germans gave me OTC strength ibuprofen and chamomile tea post-section, the barstewards.

How did you cope? I must confess to phoning the MW in tears this week asking if I could have anything stronger. The worst thing about leaving hospital early is losing the good pain killers.

Weezl- I steered totally clear of birth stories in my last few months. Tbh it's so different for everyone that I do think you can end up scaring yourself, interesting as I find them at other times!

Why did I never think of that? I use sudocrem for practically every injury anyway. OH sometimes jokes that I would use it on a broken leg.

How's it going with DH working the later shifts? Has alice adjusted? Are you coping ok with a longer day without him?
    Today is the first day.

We explained to Alice that Daddy was with us in the morning and for lunch instead of the evening and for dinner. She did want him to come home (although she always does so no change there really) at one point and said he (Daddy) was crying but I reminded her that he had been with us in the morning and he would come home in the night so she'd be able to see him again tomorrow morning and she seemed to accept/understand it. I think now she can remember things better and has better speech and comprehension it makes it easier for her to understand.

The length of day isn't so bad this year because I'm not putting Alice for her quiet time until OH goes out which means she has it 1-3 which gives me four continuous hours with Alice before bedtime whereas last year she was having a nap 12-2 (and also sometimes woke up early whereas quiet time is pretty much guaranteed time) which was at least five continuous hours. I have tried to take it fairly easy today and mainly just get used to the different layout of the day but I'm suprised how good I feel so far. The big thing that has really knocked us out previous years has been catching colds but with the weather being so good this winter we've only had one so far so hopefully won't get any in the next month.

Thanks SS. I shall see if DH can give me some spending forecasts. He'll love that :) he already glazes over at my geekiness :rotfl:. I greet him with spreadsheets sometimes all proudly in the manner of a child very pleased with a poo offering. He reacts similarly to said poo encountering parent ;):D.

Is DH being given antibiotics to combat the staph? If so maybe some prophylactic taking of bio yoghurts etc could stop his gut going all runny when back home again?

    Spending forecasts ... you're so cute :A

He was on high-dose penicillin and for some reason they stopped it  Too late for his gut though, I'm tempted to make our bathroom a Biohazard sign for when he comes home.

I'm hoping they give him some other AB that's not penicillin-derived. I'm horribly allergic and can't kiss him while it's in his system or it'll cause my face to swell up.

Honestly, I didn't realise there was an alternative :o

I've already decreed that we're stocking up on painkillers before the next one, although I loved my labour doctor and anaesthetist and would like them both again. Seriously - I didn't feel my epidural.

It is very lovely but people might assume he's a girl. (Although once when Alice was wearing 95% pink someone thought she was a boy so maybe there's no point in worrying what people will think.)

Someone gave us one of those but said if we didn't like it they could exchange it for something else. Alice cried when we tried it because she didn't like lying down so we swapped it for a baby bouncer which she loved once she was big enough.

 Do they have alternatives for people who can't take ibuprophen? *Makes mental note never to give birth in Germany*
