sami, its probably true, but can you imagine the amount of pain that poor fish is in !!! Thats just wrong !!

My husband is a fisheries officer and, apparently, there's a lot of science to show that fish aren't capable of feeling pain. Something to do with not having complicated enough brains? Sorry I'm not completely certain.

do you think this is real? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/17/eating-a-deep-fried-fish_n_360576.html
PETA posted it on FB but it just seems far fetched...

Glam - I'm sure you told us you were out n about today so I didn't expect to see you hense not missing you
i was going to say how can it be real, but i guess people survive burns all over so i dont see why a fish wouldnt be able to... except that they need water to breathe and it would have been cooked all the way through so its organs wont be able to function any more? i assume a fish has a heart? hmm dunno

Another 5am start for us here. OH now certain that what we're seeing is his reflux causing real problems, he has a lot of the internet symptoms of GERD or similar (coughing a lot in his sleep but not when awake, waking up in pain, bile-smelling burps, etc). Will be calling for GP appointment this morning, to get a paediatrician referral. After talking about all that last night there was no way I could leave him crying this morning when he woke, so up I am.

Previous night he woke at 12, 2, 4 and 6, but settled himself after a few minutes each of the first three times. My concern is that we need not to use that as our 'main symptom' or a GP will dismiss it as him being still young and not all toddlers sleep well! Really hate seeing him uncomfortable, he is such a cheerful little fellow the rest of the time...
i hope the doctor refers him with no problems, do you know how they would treat it if it was that? would be be a relief for you in a way if it was that, cos then there would be a reason behind it, IYSWIM?

I've never liked the sound of Rocky Road either but that's just because I'm not that into sweet things (which is why telling me to "change" to a "low sugar" diet for impaired glucose tolerance was a joke). I once told someone I prefer salmon pate to chocolate and she thought that was really weird.
thats cos salmon pate, in fact any kind of pate, should be reserved for cat food :p
i'd rather have a bag of pom bears than a bar of chocolate though!

those buying the chocolate hamper/thinking of buying the chocolate hamper, dont bother and get thyselves to aldi cos you're just paying for the thorntons name - you could get more or less the same stuff for under a tenner there! i bought a box of champagne truffles to test them [STRIKE]to see what they were like and cos they looked yummy :p[/STRIKE] before i bought them for people for presents and they were dreamy, tasted every bit as expensive

Yey - my lappy is fixed! :T But now i'm wondering if this MSE thingy broke it? Photos and doc's are lost -i'm hoping to get photos back and i'll have to find all of my hiding places to do my christmas list again.

MFD - i love the dress! Very 'lady'! I've got a stick-on bra, only cheap from Ethels I think. Not sure if would work on an E cup though. And it's not attractive!

Maz - i'll be 38 in a couple of weeks too. What date are you? I'm 3rd.

Haven't fully caught up - have I missed anything exciting?

OH has got his start date - 11th January. :j So we're trying to work out when is best for me to apply to take my career break.

Decorating is finished - just waiting for the new sofa to come next week.

We're off to visit nursery this morning. We went last week and she couldn't have cared less when I left her. Is it wrong to want her to care a little bit that i'm leaving her?

I was thinking of popping into work while she's at nursery, to get my cards/passwords/access reinstated- but OH said thats a silly idea, if I leave it til Monday when I go into work, it'll take at least a week so I can spend my first week in work catching up and chatting! :D

I dont really post that much at the mo, I cant seem to keep up and feel guilty just popping my head in and not really knowing whats going on, so Im tending to lurk at the moment!

Have also had a very busy few weeks and lots of snuffles and virus' going on at home! Also my grandad went into hospital for a hip replacement and ended up catching double pneumonia and had a heart attack so lots of back and to-ing to the hospital!

Lexi is keeping me on my toes at the moment, she wants to be on her feet all the time, shes climbing on everything she can and we have had a few 'standing alone' moments. Shes growing up so fast! I came in from the kitchen this morning to find her leaning over the tortoise house and trying to pick him up! My two pooches are also tormented by her at the mo, but I think they secretly like all the extra attention!

    I have read back a few pages and just wanted to say;

Mel, sorry things aren’t going to well and hope they improve soon! There is always someone here to vent to!
Becles Looks as if Charlotte enjoyed her ice skating - Lovely Pic
Feelie not been on since Monday – was lovely to meet you and your very welcome! Tobes is gorgeous and so well behaved, although he was sleeping for the most part. Hope pelvis feels better today.
MFD Lovely dress Hope both you and Benjamin feel better soon.
Keely, sorry to hear Elliot isn’t well, hope you had a better night with him.
Elle sounds as if your having a fab time! Take care
Angel, hope you enjoy your trip x
Bruno we could have a little club, I have been up at 3am everyday since Sunday! Me = Very Sleepy! Hope you get the help you need for LO
Hi Lu, Nice to see you, Glad to hear all is well!
Weezl hope your insomnia cures itself soon! You need your rest.

Sorry if I missed anything / anyone out. Hope the rest of you are ok and hugs to those who are not!

    xxx

Alice keeps waking up in the night for spurious reasons too. We've had bees in her ear (thank you Winnie the Pooh), calves chasing her (no idea where that came from) and she "lost Auntie Joyce with a spoon again" (which meant she missed her and the spoons got mixed in because OH and I were talking about spoons last time she said she had "lost" her).

And now I am going to stop reading MSE and go to Asda which I was going to do half an hour ago but than the weekly e-mail came through and I had to read it first.
