dunhelm have large storage boxes for £2.49. are plastic, very sturdy and a lid as well. you could laways brighten it up with some stickers. we have 2 one for nappies/wipes/vests/sleepsuits for the sitting room so we dont have to keep going upstairs when we need change him. and the other is for his little toysMorning Wizadora/Choppy and everyone else,
Just feeding Holly just now then need to try and get her back to sleep for half an hour whilst I shower and get ready. Got her jabs at 9.30 but want to try and get to pharmacy first to try and get some Calpol in. DH tried to get some yesterday but the pharmacist wouldn’t give it to him in the end as she is only 8 weeks old. He wrestled with is conscience and had it in his hand but changed his mind and suggested we get a script from docs. Sooo, going to try another pharmacy!
Hope everyone enjoys their meet today. How exciting for you all!

Hello to everyone.
How are people managing to get their babies to sleep through the night. We normally have two get ups in the night. Last night Alex (10 weeks old) went to bed at 9pm, he woke at 2am, had two oz if milk and was back down within 10 minutes. He woke again at 5.30am, he drank 4 oz of milk and was back down awake after about 30 mins. Put his fisherprice seahorse on and he finally went off after about another 20 mins of grunting and moaning.
Also cannot get him to ever drink more that 4oz of milk day or night. He wants feeding little and often - usually every 2 hours at the most. I feel that all i do is sit and feed. He is going to a child minder in January and i need to try and get him to take more milk and go longer with his feeds.0 -
How generous Jillie. Lucky you and what lovely in laws.
Not so much sleep here today. Still 7 hours so not complaining but had lots of crying last night and couldn't settle her until after midnight and then only with the help of some gripe water. Was very windy but crying so hard she spat most of it out so not sure if it was my burping her that finally worked or wether she got enough water to help but finally turned light out at 12.10am and after a few snuffles she started snoring.
She's asleep again now just as I'm waiting to feed her before going to pick up the half price mugs from Tesco. Had one last week and the photos have come out really well, other two should have arrived yesterday.

hmm I have £20 worth of consumer pulse points that I can swap for a voucher, one of the places is american golf, I was gonna get FIL those vouchers for Christmas, do I order those and risk them not arriving in time or just buy the vouchers for him and use my points for something else :undecided
oh rmac have you gone... if not do you know if it's easy to get to Corstorphine from leith? FIL gets the train/tram to his flat in ed'bgh so only public transport
corstorphine to leith is a fair way, but covered by good bus links. The airport bus runs all the way from corstorphine to the city centre where you can then swap to the number 22 to take you down to leith. basically take any bus from corstorphine to princess street/waverly train station and then get the 22Hope tht helps. I'm not sure how long it would take.
ETA you are going in the opposite direction ooops. just reverse the route. the 22 will take you to town (depending on where the flat in leith is approx 10-15 mins) the 16 will take you through town to haymarket station end of town (about 25 mins or so) then change to either the airport bus outside the station or another one (I don't know the number in that end of town).
Are you asking as you are coming to visit? Please do come and then we can have a mini meet in Edinburgh. I know Caz would come toor.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
well I had the grand total of 3 hours sleep last night
LO is stuffed full of the cold. her runny nose has got better, but she's just bunged up now. I've stopped giving her so much dairy (apart from her milk) and am keeping her hydrated. I also put a karvol capsule on a hanky over the radiator last night but nothing seems to help. She has trouble breathing when sleeping and then wakes up and takes hours to go back down - just dosing in our arms. I now that a Dr wouldn't be interested but it is causing DH and I pain (poor DH had to start his new job on very little sleep this morning!) Any tips?

Jillie – you are very lucky getting a laptop! Make sure you find somewhere else to put the desktop and then DH can have that and you can have laptop to yourself he he. That’s what we do!
Holly had her jabs and cried quite loudly for a few minutes, but calmed down before we left. She is sleeping and has had a bottle, and I got a smile from her so she hasn’t fallen out with me completely!
Stopped in at pharmacy on way home and got prescription for infant paracetamol so just off to collect it just now. I know 8 weeks is about 2 months, but technically she is not 2 months until 19th November, so the pharmacist was just going by the book. My local pharmacist is beside the doctors so they are probably more used to these requests (tried a different Boots yesterday as only 1 open on a Sunday).
WM – I am very lucky that Holly likes her sleep! We went to my parents for dinner last night and she slept through the whole thing. She had been sleeping in the afternoon and sleeping when we got home, so I thought she might be awake all night, but she slept from about midnight until 7am. She only has 5 bottles a day so I don’t need to work at dropping a night feed, but this is only because it’s what she demands! It’s not been deliberate, I guess just all babies are different.
I suppose if you want Alex to take more at each feed, you would be recommended to leave him for 10 minutes when he is hungry before feeding him so he is that bit hungrier, but I imagine that is quite difficult to do. Depends on whether you can stand the extra crying in order to work at getting more sleep at night? Holly is on 6oz per feed but 5 per day so although it’s quite a big feed for her age, I think it balances out because it’s only 5 bottles.
Off to Mothercare to buy some new waterproof backed bibs (I keep putting them in the tumble dryer and melting them!) and to pick up prescription.

Fitzio - we had Holly on our list of possible girls names. We had it in the top spot had LO been born a few weeks early on Christmas day
I think it's a beautiful name
