  • Morning. Liam slept 8 til 9, so he;s just had his first bottle, but ducklings is 12-1, so I'll have to squeeze in a small bottle before we set off. Don't want him screaming the place down halfway through cos he's hungry.
SM, I'm hoping the rain holds of soon too!
Fitzio, Hope the jabs go well and remember doc needs access to both thighs so make sure you dress her in something thats easy to whip off, trousers/tights. Last thing you wasnt is faffing about whilst babba is upset.
SS, glad you had fun in Paris and hubby is getting better.

Shame the hair doesn't do what I want! I took her to a really pap hairdressers and they gave her a fringe coming from the back of her head, made her look like a mushroom. She looks better with a thin fringe, so I'm currently clipping the bulk of it to the side hoping it grows that way.

I think it was Weezl who said little girls always have fringe issues, tis true!
This is why I'm not going to give Alice a fringe - they're such a pain. Technically she does have one at the moment but that's just because the hair atthe front hasn't grown that long yet.
He just doesn't swallow! He chews, bites and get things in his mouth well, but doesn't seem to want to swallow. He'll happily chew things to a mush and chomp on bits but swallows very little. I thought maybe BLW isn't for him, but purees go down even worse.
Don't know if this helps but we started weaning (BLW) at seven months with Alice and she wasn't actually swallowing anything (except for the odd little bit which went down accidentally) until ten months. People often seem to talk about the food coming out of the other end looking the same as it went in which rarely happened with Alice so I figure that if it's coming out the other end mainly undigested then it's just eating practice that they're doing as they're probably not getting a lot of nutrition from the food anyway.
Am I the only one that thinks that these games (and films etc) have a rating for a reason?
No you're not. I don't know about games (as we don't have any games consoles and don't intend to) but with films I don't really trust the ratings since seeing Shrek 2 which was a "U" but had loads of sexual innuendo in it. We always watch videos ourselves before allowing Alice to watch them and even though we have only been considering "U"s for her so far, we have rejected more than we have accepted. As she gets older, we intend to involve her more in the decision making process with the intention being that by the time she is an adult she is able to make informed decisions herself about whether a film is apropriate to watch. We also wouldn't allow her to watch a film rated higher than her age even if we thought the film was actually okay because we feel that it send out the wrong message about following rules (i.e. that it's okay to break a rule if you disagree with it).

I go through all the bad points about violence etc, but I agree with em, they see much worse even just on the news!
I would argue that the news isn't always appropriate for children to watch. (That's just my opinion though.)

Going to see the health visitor today for Charlotte's 2½ year development check. Got no worries about her and feel it's a bit of a waste of time going to be honest :o
OH got a phone message on his mobile asking for me to ring them to make an appointment for Alice's. Not sure what's wrong with contacting me directly if they want me personally rather than him to make the appointment as they've got our landline and address. I think it's a waste too so I'm only going to bother if they chase me up about it. She's articulate, she initiates interactions with a wide range of people (children and adults), she can play games with rules with other children and with me, she can appreciate other people's feelings and notices things like if people are upset or tired etc., she does role playing games, she sings, she can walk, run and jump and she can paint and colour, and she can obvioulsy see and hear fine so I can't see that there's anything they're going to pick up as a problem.

  • Oh I know what else I was going to say,

dora, if you replace COD with WoW, you have my husband too !! He comes to bed at stupid O'clock, and then wonders why he is so tired !! Oh and also decides that as he has just come to bed, it is a good time to try to get jiggy when I am nearly sleeping, and then wonders why I tell him to P off !!!

Speaking of Alice talking, last week we went to the pizza shop for pizza (it's actually only the second time since we moved) and the lady said to Alice, "You're gorgeous!" Usually Alice is shy when a stranger initiates conversation and won't speak but apparently being called the wrong name was so outrageous that she replied and said, "It's Alice."
