I wonder if this article was written by a southerner trying to make out all northerners are slack-jawed yokels (again)

What - do you mean we're not?

hmmm, late end of my 20s though :) !!!

Gorgeous dress! I'm nearer 40 than 20  and I think I could get away with it (with a jazzy cardi!) :D

    Is anyone still up?
I've been out, in real life, with real people! :p
Had a good night, OH's band was playing so we went to be groupies. Had one or two JD & cokes and a little dance.
I won the bloody raffle - does anyone need a 3' stuffed dulux dog?

    Still catching up...............

On the childcare front, am I the only one going back to work and using grandparents (my mum, specifically)??

ETA Maybe that should be "utilizing with consent", not "using" exactly.. :rotfl: :o

I wish! My Nana had me when I was little and it was the perfect upbringing that I wish mine could have..........but my mum is still working full time!

MIL has announced (the same MIL that was feeding my daughter a grab size pack of quavers on Wednesday) that she's applied to drop a Wednesday at work, so she can have DD2!

Will try and read back later once LO in bed :D I feel I'm missing out on the gossip and then can fill you in on mine :D

    What's the gossip!

The childminder/Nursery debate......... I used a childminder for DS, then a nursery for DD1, and had no preference for DD2! It depends on how great/bad the childminder/nursery is. DD2 is going to Nursery, because I loved it when we visited. The two childminders I visited, I didn't like.......i'm not sure why, I just had a feeling! But, i could have visited a nursery that didn't give me 'the feeling', and a childminder that did!

OOh, i like it here late at night. I can catch up without an extra 10 pages being added. :D

    just caught up :0)

Hi all had a great birthday day with my newly 2 year old. Ended somewhat eventfully as we had problems getting hold of the cake (my mother had picked it up earlier in the day but then mislaid her car keys just as she was about to bring it over lol).

We bought LO this for his birthday. We also got a motorised thomas for it and he has played with it endlessly since so am guessing that was a hit!

And today I took him to get a new pair of shoes and fell in love with these in dark brown which had £10.00 off!!

So all in all a very money saving few days as we got the b'day pressie for less than 40 quid (including the extra train).

    . :D

Maybe you'll have to be extra busy on wednesdays taking her to baby groups 3 lol? I wouldn't want my mil looking after my LO really for similar reasons (she considers sugary yoghurts an alternative to normal food and don't get me started on jaffagate (7 in two hours!).

Not to mention that their way of babyproofing is to shout loudlly at him if he goes to touch the wrong thing. Now how hard is it really to stick the expensive and sentimental china away until he is old enough not to touch. He is actually very well behaved when he is there as it is good fun for a few hours but on a regular basis I could see him getting very bored very quickly with endless streams of TV and biccies.

Graaaah. Watched a movie and went to bed at midnight. Monster child woke at 1.30 without any excuse, took 20 mins of settling. Then he woke at 5... 20 minutes of settling (and some water) later I despaired, he seemed convinced it was time to get up but I am not having his wakeup time be 5am. I put him back in the cot and let him scream and shout and complain - not real full-on sobbing, and when I left him I made sure he'd had some water and his nappy was ok etc... for an hour, while I lay there trying to doze.
I thought he would give up and go back to sleep, but no - eventually at 6.15 I gave up and got up with him. As soon as I did, all he would do is charge to the kitchen and stand there with his arms up waiting to be lifted into the high-chair! Now I've been feeding him for 25 minutes, and he won't even eat a lot of his normal food! But he also won't entertain the idea of my stopping and taking him out.

He has gone crazy and not in a good way!

I think it was Tia asking the other day about his bedtime routine and suppertime - he usually eats a hefty supper at 6ish, gets breastfed at 7.30, and is in bed by 8.

I am so tired and aggravated right now. He's been waking up certainly before 6 for the last few days, don't know why also a night waking last night unless maybe it's a bit cold, going out to get sleeping bags that fit him this morning. He can't really be desperate for food at 5.30am can he? I don't know.

Anyway, off to catch up on thread once his face is sufficiently stuffed.

Slingdiscussing people, there are loads of different types and makes and they are often very different to use. Just because one was bad doesn't mean another will be. We stuck with the third that we tried, and still using it now at 15 months.
Elijah is a very active toddler now who hates being in the stroller, but he still has no problem being attached to my chest! As long as he has a good view around at everything.

My jumperoo should be here today! Nothing else planned other than some fireworks at neighbours house tonight.

    What's everyone else doing today?

Shopping for food and sleeping bags this morning, going to the British Museum this afternoon and meeting up with my parents there.
Trying out poor Elijah's leash for the first time this morning ... we shall see how much he hates it, they seem such terrible things but just can't let him walk on the streets otherwise as he has no sense of self-preservation and doesn't really respond well to "No!".
