I dont know my blood type, apparently you have to pay to get it done if you want to know, OR donate blood and find out that way OR get pregnant. I checked my notes and it doesn't mention MAH BLOODS. Maybe I should donate, I don't think I have had anything that would make my blood not good enough, unless ya know, I have aids or something.
Anyone know what the requirement thingymajigger is?0 -
BM there's a questionnarie thingy here http://www.blood.co.uk/can-i-give-blood/donor-health-check/
I'm O Neg, dunno if that's rare but i need the anti-D stuff
edit- ooh looky, they don't have much of my type lol http://www.blood.co.uk/StockGraph/stocklevelstandard.aspx0 -

Maybe we need to invent a new word for that lovely pre-love feeling?

Tomorrow is very tempting - especially as i'm skiving out to give blood for an hour or so. The things I do to make my working day shorter!
I don't think i'll be keeping in touch with any current colleagues (see above post!) - but i've been there 8 years, and have worked with a select few people who i'd consider to be friends who I will keep in touch with. (OH being one of them! :rotfl:)
Oh yes. I wouldn't know where to start, but if you or anyone else has any idea....money maker has already invented a new word, so hopefully her brain can find us another one? Other than just 'horny' :rotfl:
Tomorrow sounds even better now. Yes, you'd better keep in touch with OH :rotfl:Buttonmoons wrote: »I hope not MotM! I would like another child, at some point, but not in this tiny flat! I could easily afford another one, which helps, but the thought of 2 beds in that 1 tiny bedroom puts me right off!
Children are like your beloved Pringles. Once you pop, you can't stop. Well, at least I didn't stop after popping the first time  Not sure i'm going to get to have 90 kids though

Snap! Same as me Beenie.
If there is an emergency transfusion needed, and they don't know the receivers blood group, they can use ours.:beer:0 -
Ahh i see, just skimmed through this, we're very useful then
Only 7% of people have oursGroup O has neither A nor B antigen so this group can be given safely to any other group. This is why Group O donors are known as ‘universal donors’. Group O can make both anti-A and anti-B antibodies if exposed to these antigens.85% of people have the D antigen on their red blood cells and are RhD positive.
The remaining 15% lack the D antigen and are RhD negative.0 -
I will think of Rhys and other babies I might be helping while they're stabbing me with the huge needles! I should make it hurt less.

I haven't been for a while - I thought you had to wait 12 months after having a baby. But the blood service guilt inducing letters came last week and I noticed you only have to wait 9 months.
My blood is very important apparently - it's the only type that can be used universally.
My mum's the same - she got the guilt-inducing letter last week (went to donate yesterday)
I'm A neg, only found out when I was pregnant, they never tested any of the other times I've had blood tests.. Reminds me, I'm probably due one in Jan - oh joy!
(I don't like blood tests, makes me queasy, but it's meds I'm on that stop me donating, not just being fraidy of needles

why do u have to wait for 9 months after having a baby to give blood again!? i havwnt done it since 2006/2007 cos been pregnant or "have just had baby" since!Carla-Farla!!

Mummy to Katie (27.11.07) and Christopher (05.08.09) ♥♥♥0 -
Requirement thing - I meant what are the prohibitations on giving blood, like medication/malaria/tattoos/anal sex - You know what I mean? I'm not good with words!
Oh that seems interesting, Scotland needs platelet donors, only 1500 apparently donate, and it helps people with cancer, leukemia, premature babies and emergency patients. I would do that! Im totally not phased by needles and gore, Im just worried they'd test my blood and tell me I have HIV or hep or something, how irrational!0 -

Other than 'cos it says on the back of the letter', I have no idea!I don't like blood tests, makes me queasy, but it's meds I'm on that stop me donating, not just being fraidy of needles

I'm not really fraidy of needles, and it doesn't really hurt - I just go a bit funny if I see the wire coming out of my arm, or the bag full of my blood.
If I keep looking at the ceiling i'll be fine.
