these are 26p and we share a can. Costco large jacket potatoes are 4p each so total each is 17p. Probably not uber-healthy if done everyday, but I guess most folks friday night tea is a bit like that:rotfl:

Are those potatoe prices per potatoe or do you work it out as a price per KG?
Uber-healthy not really my style

csh - make it on christmas eve - tell him you are prepping for christmas day and he'll not go anywhere near the kitchen if he's like my DH!!!!! :rotfl: I might ask him to do something :rotfl:

Should I make just the sponge on Christmas Eve and ice it later or do the whole thing on Christmas Eve? Will it keep ok?

He follows me about if i'm in the kitchen too long :o He says he gets lonely lol

    Evening all

MOTM - Have a nice evening with all your girls and Lucy (lovely name)

SM - I have tried Asda twice and both times they messed up my order, so I have gone back to Tesco delivery. Weeks that I know are a bit tighter moneywise, I tend to not order online and nip our local Asda, as it does seem to be a bit cheaper!

    Weezl - Nice cheapy dinner:)
There is no way we could ever get down to the kind of figures that you acheive. Firstly the obvious, there is more of us. Secondly, dh is a fussy sod....he would not entertain a baked potato for his main dinner, he won't eat value meat (or any food for that matter) and every meal must have meat but if we have sausages/mince more often than once/twice in a fortnight he moans. He doesn't like beans too much. Even cereal he is fussy with, they must be Kelloggs!! I am fighting a losing battle really, so haven't almost given up trying. I make small savings where possible but they are small.

r.mac - that dress it lovely:) I had a nosey around the rest of the site, there is some lovely stuff on it.

    My news.......

We were told a week or so ago that it would be ok to apply for the childcare element through dh's application with the LEA. We filled out the forms and were told today all they need are the kids birth certificates(which we took them today) and it will be done and money in the bank within a few days:D
It will help a bit as at least I can get the childcare providers paid up and cancel the breakfast/after school club, that the older two attend. I am going to keep Kai in the nursery one day a week for now as he loves it, and it will allow me a bit of time for when I start the Open University again:D
I will still be waiting for weeks for the rest of my money but I am going to juggle things a little and use some of this money for christmas, I have worked out I can repay it in the new year once I eventually get my application sorted:)

I have spent ages number crunching today and it seems I can afford to stay off work. I do tend to get bored sitting at home all day every day so may decide at some point in the future to get a part-time job, if something I want comes along;)

Sorry for barging in, I will slink back out now:o

    Mel x

yep, per potato, I counted them and divided that by the bag total cost :):o

it's these beans. They're cheaper than the ones without sausages weirdly:confused:

    I promise I don't work for asda :o

My pasta puttanesca works out as 23p per serving and is a wee bit healthier if you'd like a linkie....

csh - You can make it stay fresh for a number of days. The trick is to let the cake cool completely. Then ice it, but make sure the icing covers all of the cake so no air can get to the sponge. It'll be great. I hope we are all going to get a slice?

Don't slink off Mel. I'm glad the money situation looks brighter. Not so fun with your DH's fussiness!

Have you tried the trick of buying the unbranded cereal and putting it in the branded box?

  • Evening all - DH is on his work do tonight. I've got Izzy off to bed and sat down with the laptop, and am now having great difficulty persuading myself to get up again, even though getting up will enable me to eat food and pour myself a generous measure of something naughty.

First of all - MOTM you have a girlfrield :j:j. The things I miss when I go away for a few days :)
It's the same code for everyone with no limit to use (except one use per person obviously..)

I'm absolutely crying with laughter here... Hubby got in from work and took his shirt and trousers off in the kitchen, started gyrating and making stripper noises... Then flicked himself in the balls with his leather belt...

:rotfl:. But what exactly are stripper noises???!!!

Right. I'm going to rummage through the cupboards and work out what to cook. I feel like I should do something DH doesn't like, seeing as he isn't here, but I don't know what. Might just have some rice and a boiled egg - exciting menu in my house.
