Finally managed the migration over from the pregnancy club!!
Matthew is now 12 days old and has developed the most annoying habit ever. He is constantly grunting like he wants to do a poo, he does this noise 24/7 awake or asleep and it's driving me blooming crazy. Anyone got any tips apart from earplugs???
Oh and he is also what one of my friends calls an "australian baby" sleeps all day long and soooo wakeful at night. I nurse him for nearly an hour and think he is asleep and just as I put him in the moses basket the eyes open and we start all over again!! Strangely he will self settle himself in the basket during the day I am coming to the conclusion that he does not like our bedroom lol!!
Jack and my friends LO both did the grunting thing - it almost sounds like wind that they can't bring up. We both switched to Aptamil Easy Digest and George's has stopped completely while Jack's is better, he only does it now if I struggle to bring his wind up.
Oh and congrats and welcome!
I like Matthew but it's BIL's name so not an option here!
MFD - I was making bottles and washing up, listening to Jack scream his head off! Don't know what's up with him the last few days! OH says 'It's cos Nanny Sue has gone home - um, I don't think so!
Beef Madras
Fry onions
Add Pataks Madras Curry Paste - use about 1/3 of a jar
Add chicken and seal
1 tin of tinned toms
100ml of water
(instructions on the jar)
Chilli
I add 3 beef oxo cubes, a splash of Worcestershire sauce, red wine, a green and red pepper, ginger and salt as well as the stuff listed above.
Can use grated carrot to bulk it out even more.
I use 2 x 500g packs of lean steak mince (2 for a fiver in ASDA) and it makes 8 good sized portions.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Glam thanks for the suggestion re the aptamil easy digest we are using the normal aptamil at the moment so will try that when we are finished.
Is it a thicker formula and will I need bigger teats for it? Had started off breastfeeding then he got jaundiced and did not seem to be feeding enough to make it go away, strangely once I switched to formula it was gone in two days.Coming soon............

Welcome Pookie. Can't help with the grunting thing. Holly only grunts when being fed. She squeaks and grunts like mad and spills half of the bottle. I am hoping this is not abnormal! She does do the waking up when put in her basket sometimes though. Sleeping bags help with this as you don't need to try and get them under the covers and tuck things in etc.
Can I ask a question to Glam/Jillie/anyone who can remember when their babies were about 7 weeks old?
- How much do your babies sleep? Holly is sleeping for 8 hours during the night which is great, but she is still sleeping a lot during the day. She went 8 hours overnight, and then after having her bottle this morning, she went 5 hours before I tried to force it on her. She is sleeping again now. I don't think she is ill as she is not listless etc and does come alive a bit in the evening, but I worry it's not normal and I am not stimulating her enough. She is smiling loads though and babbling away so not sure that anything is wrong. Sorry for rambling!0 -

I keep trying to tell myself I am just lucky as she never really cries properly either but it all seems a bit too good to be true. She gets a little bit ratty (girny - prob a Scots word) and can take a while to settle to bed at night but other than distress with not being able to pass wind, she is very content.0 -

Yep - I got vari-flow teats but Jack guzzles so was drowning. he's on medium ones now and the difference in his feeding is immense!
we were the same with the jaundice - 2 days on formula & it went!Welcome Pookie. Can't help with the grunting thing. Holly only grunts when being fed. Jack is almost 9 weeks - his sleep patterns vary all the time!
yesterday he woke at 9.30am, slept 5.30pm til around 9pm, went to bed at 12.30am - feeds at 4.30am & 7.30am (goes straight back to sleep afterwards) woke at 11am (was sleeping on my chest while we had a lie in and Daddy was on lappy - is still wake now.
sometimes he sleeps all day & it doesn't affect nights, other times he's awake all day & still does the same at night! think we've only had 4 nights were he has slept for 6 hrs:rolleyes:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
