Good luck at work this week Victory. I think going to check things in the stock room /garage or wherever is a great plan. I worked for a maniac once - I used to hide in the back of the welfare room. I've got a feeling that recording people without heir knowldege is illegal (?) so I wouldn't take the dictaphone or the mobile video route without checking.
Trying REALLY hard to lose the 5lb I put on last week -- can you hear my tummy rumbling?0 -

Morning everyone....
I STS this week...which is a miracle as I ate so much this weekend, I guess the discipline in the week and the gym may have helped me a little there. So I will look for a loss next week, with more exercise and less food. :j
All the best for everyone else weighing in!0 -
Hello everyone,
Welcome perfect10
Having to really fight the TOTM cravings at the mo. Yesterday was a bit of a carb dip, and I am going to stick with the usual plan today. I was reasonably active, doing lots of cleaning and tidying up. I've cleared out a corner under out staircase, where I'd stored a load of boxes from my move last year, and was horrified to discover loads of awful mould over the boxes and all up the wall, behind a filing cabinet I've put there, etc. So today I'm cleaning all of that off, and wondering what the heck is going on in this house? OH has lived here for 6 years before I moved in, and never had it, but since we've lived here, there's mould around the windows, and it's now under the staircase. Anyone had any experience of it? I am wondering if there's more humidity due to more people living in the house (bathing/cooking, etc) and we've had a couple of cold winters? The house has solid walls, and it's only on outside walls, which are north/east facing predominantly. I bought a dehumidifier last year, but it costs so much to run, and put the electric bill up enormously, so it's up in the loft not being used. I've sprayed the walls with Dettol mould spray, and it is disappearing, but stinks awful.
Anyway, rather off topic I know, but it's going to be my exercise for today!
Have a great day all.One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

damp / mould is a classic in houses with solid walls especially with upvc windows (they stop all the draughts of older windows which actually reduces the chance of damp). My first flat had terrible damp problems, it was cured when i had air bricks fitted to the affected rooms.
you need to make sure you get some air into the rooms where its happening, especially in bedrooms (all the hot breath) bathrooms and the kitchen, don't keep bedroom doors closed and keep the bathroom door open after a shower / bath.
if you have window vents (little strips on the windows) open them
some moulds can affective your respiratory system so wipe over walks with a warm water with a drop of bleach in it to kill them off.0 -
oooh ,that s good advice eric I can use that! We had no problems till a heating breakdown a couple of years ago - now i have damp in 2 bedrooms. Do you think the wallpaper needs stripping off to kill it entirely?0

Hello all
I've been following this thread for a while now and finally thought it was time to post myself. It was my new years resolution to "lose weight and get healthy", but due to there being so many birthdays in January, including my own, and all those sweeties and chocs leftover from Christmas, I decided not to start until February!
I've just turned 20 and I'm 5'7. I ended up starting on the 28th of Jan when I was 12st 3lbs. I weigh and measure myself every Monday, and I keep track of it using FoodFocus.
I've completely cut out junk food, chocolate, crisps, sweets, fizzy drinks.. If I want a treat/snack, I have fruit or a yoghurt. Stocked up on tinned and fresh veg, and also extra lean mince beef, chicken breasts and white fish.
I also find the Heinz Weight Watchers frozen food range to be really yummy, and 5 for £5 in Asda atm!
My sister gave me her exercise bike that's been gathering dust in her spare room for a while, so that's been a great help. I bought some weights too, so I can start trying to tone up!
I've been using FoodFocus as a guide for my target cals, which is currently 1117 cals a day for a loss of 2lbs a week. I didn't think the exercise I was doing was burning much until I lost 7lbs in a week  so I'm trying to balance the combination of exercise & calorie intake so that I'm losing weight at a steadier pace.
I'm attending two weddings this year, so I'm using that as my motivation to keep on track- the first is in April and I know it'll be here in no time, aha.
I also found this when I was starting out and I find it's a complete inspiration- http://weight-loss.fitness.com/before-after-between/36490-mar-08-96kgs-212lbs-june-09-85kgs-188lbs-oct-09-63kgs-139lbs.html
I just keeping going back to look at it and it's just amazing. If you scroll down to the replies, she's posted some more photos and also information about her eating habits and exercise regimes.
Anyway, as of yesterday I weigh 10st 13lbs, which is a total loss of 1st 4lbs, and I've lost 5 inches from my waist. I've set a target weight of 9st 6lbs, but in all honesty, I've never been slim so I might be happy with my weight before I even reach that
Sorry for the long post, but I will be trying to post regularly on here!0 -

if the wall behind the paper contains moisture its best to remove the paper, clean the walls and paint them with emulsion paint as that breaths and will let the wall dry out over time.
if its really wet it may worth be leaving it a few weeks before painting it
