There was a long queue in Birmingham city centre at 11.00am I decided not to bother, when I went passed at about 1.00pm the queue was not too bad so I waited it took about 15 minutes. They had run out of knickers, tea towels, mugs, They anounced that they were giving 2 of the 5 things that you chose so I had money tin, trolley coin, box of chocs , hankys and card game all times 2. Don't know why as there was still a queue and it was still quite early.

Went to the Trafford Centre at about 4pm not expecting anything to be left but they had loads and was told could take one of everything the only things they had run out of was knickers, ladies socks and yule logs. So really pleased with what I got. Donations were going to the Childrens hospital.

My girls wanted me to take them to our local one after school (I went this morning) They got some ties, card games, puzzles, hankies and yule logs. (I think the ties are really nice for 1p.)

We donated to our local hospice, I actually emptied my purse into it (was mainly shrapnel) and have decided that we will take the puzzles and card games to our local children's ward, and the ties and hankies to the local old people's home or day care centre (bar the tie the hubby wants).

All told had a cracking day and got some wonderful bargains (including a wool coat for DD2 reduced from £30 to £10 and some converse like pumps reduced to £1 for DD1 and DD2 from Primark!!

  • I went to my local M&S this morning 10 mins before they opened and there were only about 20 people in the queue. I got everything I wanted (though they didn't have any knickers). My little boy, who is 2, was with me and saw on the leaflet the chocolates and the puzzle and asked for them. I asked the girls when I got into the store if he could choose 5 items as well and they said it was ok. He chose some lovely items for himself (puzzle, chocolates, stocking, money box) and his face was a picture, he was so happy. When we got to the end the member of staff was really rude to him and asked why he had his own items. She checked my bag and looked at other members of staff and asked if it should be allowed. My little boy looked really worried and was wondering if he had done somethin wrong. I put money in the collection for both of us. In the end she shrugged her shoulders and let us out, but i was so cross. I took a lovely picture of him with all his goodies when I got home and will send a copy to head office.

OH went on his way to work: he can be flexible, I can't. I was pleased that the money tin & notebook were still to be had
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Scunny store was sold out by 11am. No idea what was on offer but after 5 min wait my wife and i were given the red stripey bag on entering which contained two red ties, two satsumas, two lots of yule logs and a pack of 16 mini chocs. I'm not complaining but a few others were complaining about not enough stock and begrudgingly put a few coppers in the charity bucket for a local Hospice. One woman even moaned she put forty pence in when she could have got it for 5p if she was earlier...
