Loads of stuff at the Gyle! Harly a que also!
  • Lakeside store at 10.15, largish queue, but it went along very quickly, very well organised, we were given personal shopper when we got to the front of the queue, who already had the box of chocs, yule logs and satsuma in the bag, then we could also choose 5 gifts. The donation bucket was after the tills, and I must say, it didn't have too many coins in silver or gold, just lots of coppers!
  • Perth store still has Penny stuff at 12.30pm today - got some nice things, tie, chocolate, puzzle, socks and money box. Used the 12.5% discount voucher to buy some boots I saw but did it on line through Topcashback - got another 5% cashback and delivery was only 1p!!

I was told that my local store was opening from 8 and to be there early as there would be massive queues. Went at 7.45 and was the only one there! Got what I was after anyway and a 12.5% off vouchers for the next 3 months :)

Not much of a queue at ours . But LOADS of stock.Got there at 7 and was 3rd in the queue but until 8.20 there was only about 20 ppl in the queue.Got free clementine and samples of turkish delight, choc ( a bit like ferreo rocher) and cherry liqeuer choc give out elsewhere in store.Got mens socks in bag, 2 tea towels(dunno if this was given in error or not)notebook. large mens hanky and yule logs but felt rushed again and wishing I had changed my mind again for something other than the yule logs.We didnt seem to have any knickers or xmas stockings but then if it was like last time you got ushered to a table and both tables did not have the same on.

Was hoping my flatmate who worked just over the road would pop in as there wasnt much of a queue at all but he couldnt be bothered. Grrrr..didnt think to try joining the q again but then again I have worked in our local store so they do know me so would have been embarrassed. They told me about the vacancies and gave me details of how to apply so hopefully that will come good. I have been unemployed for a long time now and my flatmate has had to shut down his business. I know this isnt much but hoping I get in this time as at least we can eat decent, give flatmate some for his debt and I can pay for the electricity etc and hopefull make his mortgage this month.

Gave much more than 5p as charity was our local hospice. Was in and out in about 3 mins tops and that includes getting and queuing for some milk..

Has anyone been in Market St, Manchester yet?
Thinking of popping over in my lunch hour in a few minutes.

So - I gather that you get placed in a queue and basically get given a 'goody bag' of their selection, and you make a donation to charidee....

Doesn't sound like what was advertised, exactly, but hey I'm happy to pop a few quid in the box for them, and with any luck get another go at it :)
  • a the knickers were gone in ours by 9.30, but i had the pound keyring, teatowel, chocs, puzzle and note book, lovley, well worth the trip!

  • MK M&S was well organised. You joined a queue which looked longish but moved fairly quickly. You were handed a leaflet showing the items before you joined the queue so you could (in theory) decide what you wanted before you got to the tables. Once at the front of the queue you waited for a member of staff who said you could choose one of the food items and then 4 of the other items. As they had loads of the children's puzzles left you also got one of those automatically....handy, because I wanted 2 of them and didn't want the chocolates....so in the end I got....

Chocs, notebook, moneytin, card game, and 2 x puzzles.....notebook is for me, and the rest will be shared between the children in their stockings :)

I don't think any of the less able bodied customers would be disadvantaged by the way this was set up (except perhaps the size and style of the queueing system, but their were plenty of staff who, I'm sure, would have helped) and there was still plenty of items left.
