For a cost effective cake I would strongly suggest Marks and Spencer - very reasonably priced for either decorated or plain white iced. If you go for plain option then you can get florist to decorate with matching flowers.
As for bands - depends what you want, but something a bit different Pure Blarney are fantastic entertainment they do piping, ceilidh, live music and DJ (google them)
  • I'd recommend the Alexandra florist beside York St police barracks in North Belfast for flowers; Lesley-Anne did our wedding nearly nine years ago on the recommendation of a family friend and my wife's cousin will be getting her flowers from the Alexandra after visiting with my wife a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic quality and also more reasonably priced than most (I always order my Valentine roses from there). Couldn't find a website or facebook page so I've stuck up their address and phone number: 88 York Road, Belfast, County Antrim, BT15 3HF Telephone: 028 9024 0037

For cake or cupcakes or other desserts for weddings, try out R&S Desserts from Carrick. They are at St George's Market on Saturdays and the cheesecakes are brilliant. They also do cupcakes and cakes for birthdays and weddings. Website :http://www.randsdesserts.com/
  • I've special offers on wedding photography, until the end of February with a 30 sides mario acerboni album in a case at £899 with all day coverage
.I can't post links but search sandra armstrong photography
  • Does anyone have any recommendations for civil ceremony music preferably a string quartet? I have been quoted £600-&800 for ceremony and possibly an hour playing while photos are being taken. I'm getting a bit desperate now, theres no way I could afford that considering everything else! And also, if anyone could recommend bus hire for guests to the venue, I've something a bit different in mind than the standard mini bus! Thanks!!

Where abouts you getting married? Theres a group called Arieta(?not sure if thats spelled right!!) based in Dungannon I think - they're piano, cello, violin & voice so nearly a string quartet. I heard them at a corporate evening a few weeks back, though they do weddings. Think they're reasonable enough price too - my friend is getting married and got a quote of £550 for ceremony & wine reception. Did a mix of everything singing and playing.

https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Arietta/101379153265110 don't think they've a website but I found this fb page you can contact them through

Not sure on the bus - would prob depend on your location

i think technically they are all in a way "stringed instruments" cello and violin obviously, piano is a type of stringed instrument, and volca chords could kind of be classed as string...

I have priced a few - Promise Wedding Music, Crannagh, Arietta - you should find them all on facebook.

I am also trying to price a band - I have contacted Jukebox Jurors, The Untouchables, Juice, but if anyone has any further recommendations, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks

I used Paula Fraser for my makeup and she was lovely and did a fantastic job! Not expensive either, she was £120 for 4 of us, and I had a trial for £25.

You can get it done cheaper in beauty salons but I wanted a proper makeup artist rather than a beauty salon that does makeup
  • i have a really good directory website name weddings-ni but i wont let me post a link cuz im new! the site was great i literally found everything in one place and felt better that other people had used people i was thinking of and had left comments, gave me lots of confidence when booking!
