  • I did a search and only found one thread from last year. I know this is the place for expert advice ;)

Which is the best breadmaker, is it still a panasonic?

And does anyone have experience of making rolls in one.

    Thanks very much in advance.

    Well, mine's a Kenwood BM450 and I think mine's the best ;)

There was a poll somewhere but I have no idea how to search. Someone will be along soon.

The car boot idea is a good one but I can't wait until April when our local car boot starts again. Need one now!! Just checking Amazon and Ebay to see what's available. SD256 is on offer at Amazon so I might check out the prices elsewhere for that model. Anyone know if the shape of the bread pan has changed in recent years as my old pan made perfectly shaped bead?

You're right :) I'll close the older threads and this one will beocme the place to ask about which BM is best :T There are 2 threads this week asking similar questions, so I've mereged them both here.

The older threads are here - if you look at the later posts there may be info on currently available models.

    Which breadmaker to get?

Which is the best home breadmaker?

There are also threads for specific makes (Kenwood, Panasonic, Cookworks, Tesco, etc) if you do a title search.

Husband is a Romantic. Sort of. As a Valentine present, he bought me a Panasonic breadmaker. (Probably better than a new iron though.) The Panasonic was the best, according to all the reviews, and in practice it's been wonderful. And husband (because he loves gadgets) has made some fantastic plaited breads covered in almonds and chocolate.

Valentine's Day 2011 is imminent. The Panny he bought me was for Valentine's Day 2004. It has paid for itself many, many times over. And is still as good as new despite being used at least once a week, sometimes twice, throughout these past 7 years. :)

EDIT: meant to add, it's amazing the way they hold their price. The eBay listing someone mentioned above is already at £74 including P&P. Amazon however has slashed the price of the latest SD256 to less than £77 including P&P:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-SD-256WXC-Automatic-Breadmaker-program/dp/B003DNRTEG/ref=sr_1_2/280-1609315-9175800?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1297616416&sr=1-2

Am almost tempted to buy one myself for the gluten-free facility.
