I've got a few more things to list on Ebay today. A couple of things were are due to finish today. There was no interest in 1 and 3 watchers for t'other. I shall check soon if there's been any bidding action

    Have a good day x

    Good luck Hopeful!
I'm off out to find a huge box big enough for the pram. Then while the kids are out, I'm going to rifle through the toy box and Ebay anything they no longer play with
    - which is a lot :D
DH is making a (slow) start on the attic  Why can't he going at 1 million mph like I would?
    Right - back to it
  • I remember having to sell my little boy's stuff as he was getting older and it made me really sad :( until I saw the money in paypal :) I now constantly look for things the kids don't need, I'm sure they are scared of me :D

I think I ended up wrapping my pram in cardboard and bin liners....
    1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j
    2nd debt - MBNA - £6,618.52
First in many many to go - baby steps and all that!
First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!
    08/06/09 - [STRIKE]£11,497.68[/STRIKE] NOW - £9,757.75

Yes, it did go in quite a few bin liners. I feel cleansed getting rid of stuff - not to mention making a few quid into the bargain!

Had a fairly productive weekend, didn't get near the attic as DH wanted a day up there on his own. I didn't hear much movement, so I don't think much was done

OK, another money week and this week I'm going to come clean and update my real sig, then there will be no hiding place :o.
I do feel more in control, now we have a joint bank account, though I've told DH if I get the decent payrise I'm due that I'll increase my portion, so he can reduce his. Good thing is the O/D is less than it was last month - so taking Christmas into account too - I'm pretty pleased :T
The only blot on the financial landscape this week is that I'm working in London for 2 days and with our crappy expenses policy - it ends up costing me  I'm going to take snacks and fruit for the train and try and fill up on breakfast (God - feel like such a pauper).

£1 won on bingo this morning and 60p on scratchies - not bad and certainly better than nothing.

Hope you all have a good day x

It will feel daunting, but then liberating when you update your signature - honestly......I had to do mine, increasing it by over £20k to give the "honest" picture a couple of years ago......and haven't looked back!

Well done with the moneymaking and decluttering. We have diarised Saturday for an ebay listing day in our house this week, so hope to get a fair amount on there, with hopefully a little money in the bank at the end of it all.

    Have a good day!

Grrrr Busy Bees messed up with the Childcare vouchers meaning that £243 extra was taken from our joint account by the nursery
Luckily, this account has been well run, so there is and will be enough money to last until the next chunks of our salaries go in :T

I was looking at new current accounts at lunchtime. My 2 highest APR's are my Overdraft (18.9%) and EGG (16.9% - yes, I know that's not in my sig - I will come clean later).
A&L only give overdrafts up to £2k, plus they have been given a bad rap by the forums, so that made me think again.

Our joint account is with the Nationwide, though they turned me down for a CC last year. Embarrassingly, I already have all the cards with good offers, MBNA, Barclaycard etc, so I decided to give N/wide another go - and amazingly - I was accepted!!! 0% for 15 months :j

So now, I will transfer the EGG (and cut up the card  or might I need it for emergencies???) and see if I can either do a Superbalance transfer from my overdraft (don't think they do this) OR write a CC cheque?

This is something I have never done, I see them (the cheques) as evil (probably being totally irrational), but if anyone has any advice regarding them, I'd be very grateful...:D

Must go and iron Mount Etna as I'm away for 2 days....back later x

i think you need to check the terms and conditions for the cheques, some of the cards consider them to be cash advances so charge exceptional interest rates on them.

Thanks LT, I knew there was a reason I'd steered clear...
I will try and see if the Nationwide will let me transfer the balance of my O/D, highly doubtful, but worth a punt!

i guess it will depend on the card, the worst they can say is no or you'll get charged lots of interest.

Just got back from London. I'm absolutely shattered - I feel jetlagged actually :rotfl:

The journey was horrendous as all trains were cancelled due to a poor person being hit by a train...
Then my connection was cancelled due to a derailment yesterday.
£190 arrived in my account from Paypal / Ebay winnings yesterday, so that's good. :j
But bought clothes in London :o so that's bad. I'm going to return them as I like seeing that overdraft balance going down...(it is hard to change the habits of a lifetime :o)

Off to play the remainder of my bingo bonus then sleep - will so new sig tomorrow...
