It's a while ago now, but we used to get story tapes from the library, with the books with the same story, so they could follow the stories by themselves. We weren't bad parents, we did read with the boys, it's just once they went to their rooms they had a while to listen to story's and read books by themselves, it gave them a time to calm down before going to sleep. They did grow up to treat favorite books just like favorite cuddly toys.

Yes, someone has suggested this and I think it would work for her. The only problem I forsee, is that they share a room and her little sister falls asleep straight away and often asks everyone to stop talking because she's tired! :D

I will look into that, thanks for reminding me :)

Sounds like you had a fun weekend with friends but it is pants when it always comes down to money! Just been googling and think we're taking the kids on an easter egg trail hunt - there is a stately home near us but we know a way you can park nearby and walk in hence saving the cost of the entrance fee :D:D:D So shouldn't cost us much!

How did your spreadsheet evening go, sounds very much like me and OH - indeed it is very rock and roll :rotfl:
    1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j
    2nd debt - MBNA - £6,618.52
First in many many to go - baby steps and all that!
First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!
    08/06/09 - [STRIKE]£11,497.68[/STRIKE] NOW - £9,757.75

Oooh spooky, we're going to a Stately home with an Easte Egg hunt too!!!

You'll be proud of me IMD (or Secret Squirrel as I'm now going to call you :D) - just been for a 7.5 mile run :j:j:j 1.21mins - but it was for distance not speed, so am just happy I got round.

Lost 1lb, so it's all going well. Better go and get ready, we're meeting friends there and I'm sat here in a towel . DH will kill me if he sees me!!!!!

Have a good day all and Happy Easter. Look out choccie - here I come!!

Well done on the run - you shouldn't worry about speed when building up milage - that will all come in due course. The main thing is to get the miles in.

Good for you - I am still thinking about it :rotfl:

Thank you! Any day now, I'm sure you'll dust off the old trainers Hypno ;)

Well we did have a lovely day, sunshine and showers but nice to be out in the fresh air. Money spent:

    £25 entrance fee
£37.45 on lunch - it was roast dinner, but still
    £5.20 on ice creams :o:o:o

Anyway, it's all been put on my family spends spreadsheet.

I was up until Midnight creating budgets until the end of the year. With new house/potential new mortgage and without. Some DD's, such as nursery fees and the sofas, finish in July and August, so that frees up cash - which would go straight to the mortgage.

Things will be very tight. I realised we spend an awful lot on children's hobbies; ballet, swimming and french lessons and the associated clothing and exams.
Kids clothes and groceries are an area I'll have to try and cut back on. Though most clothes come from supermarkets and both kids have had growth spurts recently. The downside is that despite being 2 years apart - they are the same size, so no hand-me-downs.....

OH has not looked at them yet, he said I could talk about them in the car today! Yeah right.....

Off to crack an egg :D

Good for you on the run - :j Didn't get to do mine, will do it tomorrow now instead.

We spent a very similar amount on entrance but we had a good day out and I think through all of this you have to have some treats!

I like the idea of your budgets. I'm filling in an online spending diary so I can see at the end of this how much we are averaging every year.

Enjoy your egg, I think I'm going to have to steal one of the kids when they go to bed......:o
