it's funny that this thread was started because i was just reading that the areas that still have property dropping in price are those that are least popular or even the undesirable areas. that would make quite a lot of sense...0

I believe the technical term for what all those people are doing isIveSeenTheLight wrote: »Once again you miss the point Graham.
It was not about the building itself, it was about the people queuing up to spend money during this recession, hence the pictures of how busy it was.

There is always a queue at poundland.0 -

Looks like they are not cutting back there.
It does seem to be spend spend spend.
Keep us updated, please...
I'm waiting for some photos in January

Load of new house prices for one area I'm tracking just come in. Am pleased to report that whatever is going on nationally, or even in average terms in my area, the sort of houses I'm looking at are still all coming in at 2004 prices - under 250K.
Were up to 350K at peak.
I would say if you can get 30% off peak buy. ( I think that may be the first time I have said buy now.:))
I don't think many are forecasting falls of greater than that now.
Just a shame you missed the .49% trackers.

We had a new Peacocks open last Thursday...place was horrendously busy.
Not many buying stuff though.
Me and eldest went in...and came out empty handed. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I live in an area of outstanding beauty, amazing views in a rural location.
Yet the property dropped a 3rd in price since peak and still didn't sell at auction - seems even the developers think prices have some way to go.
Possibly the place was way overpriced to begin with, hardly suprisingly looking at the prices of property even today.
Few years of growth and some people think its their god given right to charge the earth, for a shoebox... tiz a shame pride goeth before the fall.0 -

It's the grand opening of a massive shopping centre!!
THAT's why there are people there. Are you trying to tell me I have missed the point because it will "normally" be that packed with people queuing up outside waiting for it to open?!?
Well no wonder I missed the point if that's what you are trying to say!
Half the people in those pics are stone broke students simply with nothing better to do!0 -
Good man Graham - it's important to see the negative in everything !0

Wonderful news that FTBs who bought in the lovely area you are looking at are now nursing losses of up to £100k.
It would be even better if you could find a distressed seller, like the repo you went to last Saturday, and see if you could scr*w them down on price even further0
