    erm
admits to ironing almost everything including dusters...
    I don't iron socks though!
    I like ironing tbh...

the job I hate is drying washed pots and putting them away.

I have to admit that I like some of my clothes ironed:D and I dont mind doing it(within reason) I dont iron towels, teatowels and duvet covers but I do like an ironed pillowcase.I dont iron undies.
I try and lessen the ironing by hanging things up on coathangers to dry and fold things well.
My Mum usually has a fit at the fact I dont iron every single thing:rolleyes::D like she does but I dont care as long as I dont look crumpled.
I am always suprised at how people get away with ironing nothing but each to his own as they say:D

I live in cotton t-shirts and jeans. No point in ironing those; they look the same after they've been on ten minutes whether they were ironed or not. My kids are pretty much the same. OH works in a "casual" office, so wears polo shirts rather than shirts that need ironed. So I iron almost nothing. The kids' Scout scarves might get the iron over them once or twice a year, and I might use iron-on sticky stuff instead of sewing on Scout badges.

You say you don't mind it, so what you do works for you. I dislike ironing, and I don't need to do it, so I don't :-)
  • None, don't have an iron. Never buy things that would need ironing. Boyfriend wears tshirt and jeans to work, I wear smarter but my skirt never gets creased and my blouses are crinkled style so ironing them would actually ruin them. Boyfriend stuffs his tshirts into his drawer after I have neatly folded them anyway

I can imagine that ironed clothes and sheets would be nice, but I really don't think it's worth the time. I spend enough time tidying and cleaning so as long as everything is fresh and clean I am happy with that.

I iron on special occassions only.

I am a lot more organised about avoiding ironing these days. We have an Aga style cooker/boiler so most clothes are folded and 'ironed' on that.Mr Spirit irons his own shirts and (very kindly) any bits of mine and DD's that must be ironed.

Pre MSE I used to pay an ironing service (I really hate ironing) and not iron on the stove as a matter of course. Post MSE I came on here and asked for ironing tips as I had let it build up. From replies I learnt to :
    • shake wet washing
    • fold carefully
    • hang up straight away when dry
    • If it is too dry/crumpled -to put it back in the tumble dry fro a few minutes with a clean wet tea towel to reduce the creases

I iron as little as possible. When my kids were younger & OH working I seemed to spend hours ironing and I hated it, especially when the kids would pull something from the bottom of the pile and crease everything again!

So now I only iron my daughter's school uniform and anything else gets done as and when it's needed. I'm very careful about folding things as soon as they're dry or putting them on a hanger so there's not much that really does need ironing.

haven't ironed in at least 3 years. Dress far too casually for anything to need ironed. Plus hanging it up right does the job for me. My brother wasn't going to go to the bank the other day as he hadn't ironed his t shirt he had on. I couldn't believe that!

i will go as far out of my way as I can not to iron where possible. Only keep it for emergencies or funerals etc.

Mum used to iron for money when i was a kid and i helped her, so I think that was enough to put me off for life.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I iron all out clothing. Never iron underwear or nightwear (but do tumble dry to get creaseless).
I iron pillowcases & would iron the rest if I had time, but I don't so I tumble dry.
  • I must be a right saddo , i iron all my clothes and DD's, DH does his own. I seem to have a never ending pile of ironing, i'm gonna have to learn how to fold and put away quickly like you guys, i envy you all :T. Must admit though i don't iron bedding, towels, flannels or underwear (except for DD's vests) so i am learning slowly.

I ironed two shirts for Hubby and DS to wear to a funeral last week. More than I usually do per year. Life's too short to stand there ironing 99% of clothes or linen. You could take up a perfectly good hobby in the time it would take to iron for a family every week!

What I do use the iron for is pressing when sewing. It's not possible to do any sort of big project (garments, curtains, loose covers etc) properly without using an iron as much as the sewing machine. Press-sew-press each seam was the way I was taught.
