Thanks Haribo. We initially started her on music because she was flying through the work at school and her school recommended that we extend her interests rather than push her further on academically (and have her bored at school a lot of the time). It quickly became the most important thing in her life and she has her heart set on music college (if she can get into a good one) or music at Uni as her backup plan.
Snoozer, I love lemon drizzle cakesIn fact I adore citrus flavours. Everyone thinks I'm strange as I can take or leave chocolate, but lemon/orange/lime/grapefruit and I'm right there! I even have orange wine and grapefruit wine on the go at the moment!
Utility room is looking much better (having a coffee and snack break). There were varnish blobs all over the worktops and sink from a DIY project, and I've got them off with nitromors - I had given up on shifting them so that is fab! Need to get the floor clean and finish up the sink and put unblocker down in and I'm done there!0 -
Hi everybody:hello:
Still enjoying half term here by not doing very much. Dd has disappeared to a friend's house, ds1 has gone into town with OH and ds2 is playing on the wii-he has some friends coming round later to practise skateboarding. Luckily I have some coconut, white choc and pineapple muffins baking, just the thing for 13 yo boys.
I'm not sure what we're eating today. I have several ideas floating around in my head. Am thinking about savoury pancakes for lunch with ham, cheese and mushroom fillings like the ones we had in Bayeux in the summer.
For supper I'm thinking about a big cobb style salad as I have blue cheese, avocados and bacon. Might do that with baked potatoes. There's a peach and raspberry jelly for pud.
Hester, sorry to hear about your OH's job, sounds very unfair.
Have a good day all;)0 -
Morning all,
Didn't get on yesterday or even get to catch up, will go back in a bit. Am exhausted with all this bed-making, especially as both double beds are against the wall and then there is a top bunk as well...becoming stiffer by the day so the climbing is not my favourite occupation.
Hester.....agree with floss...can't be proper practice...
BB....hugs for you and OH and his family to-day.
Jayne...hugs to you and George.
Stefe....congratulations....still have to check why....
Aussie....glad you've had some rain, hope you see DGS on Saturday...think for the sake of peace on Lamb Island you should stop entering competitions and raffles for a bit!
MSD....hope that they can sort the hernia for you
Taplady....take care of that groin injury.
Not sure what I am doing to-day, DGD2 is here until her Mammy and DD1 come back from IKEA, then they are going to visit DD4 for lunch and heading back to Cork...just here for 24 hours, but it means 3 more beds to strip, wash bedding and remake....guess should do some hoovering as well, so that takes care of OS, not sure what's for dinner, sent OH for meat for casserole yesterday, he bought way too much, but I made up casserole and cooked it, meaning to have some to freeze for at least one other day....by some kind of telepathy I ended up having 11 to feed instead of the expected 5, it was nice to have enough but meant that there was none for freezer!
Welcome to all newbies, hugs to all in need or want, have a good day all

Afternoon all
Bit of a slow start today. I overdid things yesterday and am suffering for it nowJust taking it easy now though, so not much going on here.
We had a lovely time at the synagogue. The person who gave us a tour / talk mentioned something called matzo bread, eaten at passover, which I would like to get for the girls to try. No idea what it tastes like but it would add another experience to what they've been learning.
Mum found out yesterday that she needs an operation on her eyes. Her diabetes has been causing problems, but as she has regular checks, hopefully things wont be too bad
The sun is shining here, so the girls have helped get the washing on the line. There wasn't that much to do, but we may as well take advantage of the weather whilst it's this mild!
I have to go and buy some sort of tracksuit bottoms for DD1, as they start fencing on Monday and she has nothing suitable to wear. She mainly lives in jeans, but they wont do. I just don't fancy going anywhere, especially whilst it's busy with haf term shoppers :eek:Bitsy_Beans wrote: »Thanks guys regarding the comments about whinging. It's made me smile
Nice to know I am not the only one suffering.........
Definitely not alone Bitsy.
I still remember those days, which were worse when they were tired, despite the refusal to give in to their tiredness!
Hugs to all who need them

Afternoon all.
I'm so very tired today, and I don't understand why, unless it's the knock-on effect of having my meds messed about with.
Managed to bottle up the blackberry vodka and rack off 2 demijohns of elderberry wine yesterday, and Mr LW helped me wash my hair, and that was me done for. Mr LW did want to go to the pub, and I usually try to oblige, but last night there was no way I could've done it. And y'know what? I feel guilty about it!:(
We didn't have the root veg stew last night - when I mentioned it to Mr LW he said not to do it, as I'd likely have my fingers off; he did egg'n'chips for us, and has cut the veg up ready for me so we can have the stew tonight.:A
I shall be making a gooseberry fool by way of pud, as I have a few goosegogs left, and it'll free up a little freezer space.
I know he wants to go to the local beer festival this evening - I just hope I'm a little less wilted than last night! I shall do a little cleaning - must do the bathroom at the very least - then take it easy in the hope of conserving some energy.
((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today, and a gentle tail wag from Molly Dog to MrsMW's doggie. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Pipkin-you can get matzo bread at some Tescos (in the crackers section). When i had it i thought it tasted like cream crackers.0

Have you looked online at the sports shops or even Tesco's clothes?0 -
Afternoon all!
Just popping on quickly from Mum & Dad's (on their laptop) while Dad is upstairs having a quick after lunch siesta (I know he didn't sleep well last night) and Mum...well, I guess Mum is probably in surgery right now having her hip replaced - we only know that she was third on the list today and they thought that she would be going down sometime after lunch and be back on the ward by early evening.
Anyway, have skim-read yesterday's thread and today's and can't remember half of what I wanted to say (should have made notes as I was reading!), but congrats to Lilli on Friday's move, and good luck to Lowesy for today. Really sorry to hear about your OH, Hester (very unfair!!) and commiserations to N9eav's son for his phone (I believe in karma, so hopefully something suitable will happen in both of these cases...). Bargainbird, thinking of you and your family today - hope things go OK. Happy Birthday, Miss kjsam. Apologies to all those I haven't mentioned, but congrats to all who are celebrating happy news
and (((hugs))) to all who would like one.
A bit difficult to be truly OS when you are living in someone else's house, but Dad and I decided to clean the kitchen this morning (it wasn't actually very dirty, but it kept us occupied and his mind off Mum) - completely scrubbed the cooker down, gas rings off, knobs off the front, etc, etc. That's one the reasons he's having a siesta now. He gets very involved and enthusiastic - I have to remember that he's nearly 80 and get him to slow down a bit!!
Breakfast was porridge and toast, lunch was ham sandwiches and salad. The jury's still out on dinner - Dad fancies pancakes, but I really ought to try and get something with a few veggies into him (and he won't do savoury pancakes!). Maybe I can strike a deal with some soup first, and then pancakes for afters...?! :rotfl:
Thanks for all the support the day before yesterday re: my electrical checks. The news was bad (although not as bad as Mr P had expected...) - seemingly the regs changed 2 years ago, so had we sold then we would have been OK, but things are now more stringent. Just waiting now to hear from our buyer - still keeping our fingers crossed that he will knock some money off and go ahead. We were quoted "under £2k" for the work which needs doing, but it is a big job and will mean major upheaval if we have to do it before selling...
Hope everyone has a good day. Will try and get on as often as possible whilst I am up here (although dodgy internet connection and laptop means the computer is not as easily available as it is at home, where it is on almost 24/7 and just sitting in the corner of the lounge!!).
