Morning all!
Grey and overcast here this morning, but apparently it will be 'mild'. Is that really mild, or mild for the time of year mild?
Going to meet a friend for a walk and a picnic lunch today. We met as teenagers on holiday, then didn't see each other for nearly 10 years, tho spent a couple of years writing letters every week, and now she's moved and is only an hour away from me (rather than in NZ where she has spent the last 2 years!). We've both got babies about the same age, and this is the second time we have seen each other in 3 weeks!!!
Hubby goes to meet the team at his new job today. :DHe's taking over the running of a company, job due to start proper next week, but thought he should meet the team today. Not sure what they are expecting, I just hope they have all been told that he is the younger side of 30, or else I can see some of the old-timers using his age against him before he even gets a chance to show them how great he is (not that I am biased at all!).
OS today - packed lunch, leftover tasteless slow-cook chicken caserole for tea,and enjoying the great outdoors with a pre-paid parking ticket. Also need to start thinking about an OS Christmas...
Bitsy - Know exactly what you mean about the whinging. Drives me crazy and I only have one at the moment! Daddies do tend to have miles more patience because they don't hear it all day. Or perhaps their hearing is not as finely tuned? And re the mouth ulcer - ouch! Have you tried Orabase paste? It is fantastic, I had 15 ulcers on my tongue back in May :eek:and got 2 tubes on prescription. Neither one is finished now. It is quite pricy for the size, but well well worth it.
Have a good day all

Morning all!
We went to the York railway museum yesterday and had a very cheap day out. Around 1/8 tank of petrol, £2.30 on the park and ride bus and £1.50 for dd to go on a carousel. We took a packed lunch and the kids had a great day as there were extra things on for half term. We will definately be going again.
Today we are going swimming and then to McD for happy meals-at least they are cheap. Tea is not what I had planned but I have some HM roast ham left that needs eating so we'll have pasta, ham, sweetcorn, brocoli and cheese-don't need to buy anything. I'll have some salad with mine-to make up for the happy meal!!
Apart from washing I won't be doing much OS I'm afraid. I've decided to leave the cleaning until the weekend when dd visits grandma. I shall just have to try not to let the mess get me down.
Bargain bird-thinking about you today.
Bitsy-the whining REALLY gets to me too!!
Hope everyone has a good day. I'm off to google tupperware and see if they still do parties here.July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

Morning all :hello:
Nice and bright here bit cool though but its dry.
Well it's back down to earth after a lovely week away being spoiled no washing ,ironing, cooking or cleaning just enjoying ourselves (and eating FAR too much)
It really has charged up the batteries.
Got back Tuesday PM and yesterday was spent washing, cleaning and tidying the garden (as you do) which seems to have taken on a life of its own, such a mess all in a week.
Just got the shopping to do today need to get some stuff in for the SC really fancy a beef stew, so its braising beef and lots of veg,
Had a lovely ready chicken curry meal for 2 from Asda last night £4 and very nice it was to, dashed in and picked it up on the way back from DS and DIL's, I just had to go see DGS, he seems to have grown a lot in just a week and was chattering away. I really missed him.
Hopefully get a couple of hours on here playing catch up this PM.
Have good days all
back later

Morning All
Got suitably thrased at Scrabble last night.
Today the washer is on, and once that is out we are off down to the Mar Menor on the bikes with some neighbours/friends from home who are out for half term. Tonight we are eating out, then off to listen to live music again.
Bbird - hope today goes as well as it can.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning folks. Can sympathise with the whining. I still get it occasionally and she's 12! I must admit it's more the moody strops and the grunts and the "woteva" that I get these days - take your pick LOL.
Thought I was doing well yesterday as I took a big bag of stuff to the charity shop - only DD spied a guitar in there, so that came home with us instead. So now she is trying to teach herself guitar on top of the 4 other instruments that she plays! I swear that child would play every instrument in the world given half a chance. And the annoying thing is that once we'd got it tuned, she was playing Greensleeves on it inside 5 minutes!
Anyway not to be outdone I had a go on her saxophone last night. She is starting at a music workshop a week on Saturday and it's too far from home to make coming home sensible, but a 3 hour wait if I don't, so I may join the beginners saxophone group since she'll be playing her violin in the workshop. Hopefully it will be ok, since the basic fingering is the same as the recorder, which I played a lot when I was a kid. Need to order a new mouthpiece and some easier reeds, though, as she has gone up a level or two on reeds since she started.
As you can probably tell, my life revolves around DD's music - I'm forever ferrying her about with one instrument or another in the boot!
Today is mostly cooking a turkey in the SC then separating it out into portions for meals, and making stock with the bones (some of that may be tomorrow, as it'll take a while to cook). I also need to do some more sorting out of the utility room, and try to make the craft room/junk room a little less chaotic.
Need to do some work work too, as half term has flown by and I need to be ready to restart on Monday.
Take care all.0 -

DG;)
Wow, your DD sounds very talented 2cats1kid... My two are learning the recorder and it is painful to the ears.
I know all about whining Bitsy.... My 2 had a massive row this morning ans sat through breakfast in a sulk.
Hope you all get through today BB. xxx
I seem to have masses of housework this morning.I had a drink last night and my routine went out the window so I must attone for that today.
Have to go shopping as I had only done my meal plan up to today so have no idea yet what's for tea.
Have a doctors appt at lunchtime and then will make a start on making my Christmas cards.
Take care all

Hester, that's awful - can he write to the Governors to query the bizarre "recruitment" process? Or even to the LEA? I'm sure that would be against their own procedures....?0 -
Morning all :hello:
Busy busy busy at work!! Few people off with the dreaded swine so it very busy!!
Got my new soup book, just had a quick flick through and its making my mouth water, nom nom nom!!
Hester - its infuriating when situations like that happen!! I can imagine that you are very furious. Keep your chin up.
My FIL to be put our telly up last night :T Ready for serious telly watching this weekend and a big shop in As*a, I shall be trying out some soup recipies and i'm thinking spag bol and lasagne next week at some point.
Ready for Friday now, few drinks with the girls, haloween party on Saturday and relaxing on Sunday
Have a good day everyone!! :beer:0 -
Hi everyone,
Hester - I can only echo everyone else, the injustice of it takes my breath away. I had something similar in that I was promised a job and then didn't get it - as I'd have been showing the new person how to do the job I got myself a new position and left before she started!
Stef, best wishes for you and Mr Beard, I have a soft spot for beards as DH had one when I met him and for about 15 years after, he shaved it when it started to go grey.
Bargain Bird- I hope things go ok at the funeral.
Still got MIL and SIL staying. I baked lemon drizzle cakes and mocha squares last night to replenish the cake tins. Other than that and the normal chores I've not done a lot OS.0 -
